How much of a difference in sound quality is there between a standard computer speaker set up and a computer stereo with a reciever and decent speakers? I ask because I am contemplating moving up from my Audigy 2 with a creative 5.1 surround system to a system with 6.1 Boston Audio speakers, and a yamaha receiver. How much of a better sounding system for music etc will this yield?

much better.

assuming your HT speakers have a better response curve than your computer speakers.

which most do.

Just do it.

I went with real speakers and have never looked back. Although my brother's Klipsch Promedia 4.1s (I used to own, sold it to him) are still pretty good.... until I go back to my Polk LSis.

cool cool, I just hooked mine in with some front floorstanders and subwoofer, and they sound MILES better than my Inspire's that I had before. The bass is far better, and the sound response is quite a bit better.
