Hi -

I just finished my new server computer, and I am having mucho problems with it... First of all, it used to be fairly stable. As long as it was running, it seemed to work fine. But whenever I had to reboot it, it would sometimes hang at a black screen just before loading windows...

That problem still exists, so if anyone has any ideas with that, let me know - but now a new problem surfaced. This occurred just after I installed new sotware. I can't tell you exactly what it was, because I installed lots of things in between when it was working fine and it broke. But some of the apps were Apache, MySQL, an FTP server, VoIP server, etc...

Long story short, for the second time today, the computer just reboots itself. The first time I got no error report. The second time, I got the following details in a Windows error report:

OS: Windows XP x64 edition w/ latest patches and updates...

Code:
BCCode : 7c BCP1 : 0000000000000005 BCP2 : FFFFFADFCDDFF228
BCP3 : FFFFFADFCD7A8C30 BCP4 : FFFFFADFCDE00700 OSVer : 5_2_3790
SP : 1_0 Product : 256_1

I wanted to see what files it would upload when submitting the error report, and it said it was going to upload the following two files:

Code:
C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERc1b8.dir00\Mini022706-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERc1b8.dir00\sysdata.xml

I am not sure if the computer BSOD's or if it just reboots, because I have a KVM hooked up to it along with 2 other servers, so when I hear it beep (the beep it makes on startup) it is too late to tell what happened, and I am not going to watch a pot to boil if you know what I mean.

Finally, here is what's inside the thing:

Computer is running Windows XP x64 edition, latest updates and patches.

Id start with looking at the all applications compliance under XP64 bit

Well I have many programs that are 32-bit, but simply run as x86 processes in the process list. I thought that was one of the properties of XP x64 edition was that it could run 32-bit processes as well on an emulated environment, so a bit slower than normal, but still run them.

Is there a big database of supported software, or do I need to look at each individual vendor for that information?

Thanks,

Check your PSU, the black screen on starting may mean your mb isn't getting clean voltage.

control panel > administrative tools > event viewer > system

might give you more insight as to what is causing your woes
