Not sure if this has been posted about.....

Been helping my parents upgrade their PC and it needed a new hard drive. I told my dad to go down to Fry's and check the rebates, etc. there. Dad being Dad ignored my advice, but he did go to CompUSA which is closer to his house with the Fry's ad and asked them if they would match the deal. They did and the Fry's ad had a 160gb Seagate for $99.99 - $50 MIR = $49.99 AR. Well, CompUSA sold it to him for $98.49 - $50 instant in-store rebate for a total of $48.49!

This sure kicks the [H]ell out of sending in rebates!
 
too bad this really only applies to you West Coasters. East coast has nither a Fry's for THOUSANDS of miles ;(

Good for you Cali guys though.
 
FYI they have just opened one this month in Atlanta, so maybe the rest of the east coast will get them. I am also sure that this is a YMMV kinda thing.
 
There's also one in Downers grove, IL (near Schaumburg)

So it's not just West coasters you can hate :)
 
I found the key to price matching rebates is to talk with multiple service reps and act like there is no MIR. I do it all the time and it works fine.

Well, my dad can be an annoying hardass quite easily. Probably what UltimaParadox said too.
 
damn i wish i could be a hardass. I guess I'm just too nice lol.
(being a hardass is how you get those $10 dollar shoes in Beijing to $5 or less hahaha).
 
I don't want Fry's to open in NY, because I like being able to order from them with no tax (it's 8.25% where I am)
 
lol i have around 4 of them around me here in the dallas/ft worth area :p . go there at least once a week. bought many of items from them and never had 1 go bad on me.....knocks on wood.

and it depends on what city you go to here for the tax, ranges anywhere from 7-8.5 around here. usualy i dont pay attention to the tax.

I found that out a month ago, still need to drive in and see what all of the hubub is about.
