Compression Fittings

I am using Bitspower Compression fittings on my WC rig. My question is are they supposed to be difficult to screw on once the hose is connected to the fitting? I was doing some test fitting and had a real hard time screwing down the lock screw. This is my first WC set up so not sure what to expect. Did you need tools to tighten them down or just hand tight?

hand tight only. the nature of compression fittings is to provide enough clamping force so that it is water tight and wont fall off, so yes they will be difficult. pretty much just hand tighten them until you cant anymore. (then leak test!)

First thing is to make sure you have the right fittings for your tube size. They must match on both ID and OD.

Second, I would recommend not tightening as far as you can by hand. The reason is that you may have trouble removing the lock screw later without either twisting the tubing or actually twisting the entire fitting. Just tighten it until you feel some significant resistance, then stop. You actually don't need to go very far for a water proof seal.

As always though, leak test at least 24 hrs just to be certain.

in the past i always used 1/2" fittings with 7/16"ID for a nice tight fit
i did the same for the compression fittings, not realising the OD was a bit off

the fittings still do form a water tight fit , but i had to screw the lock fitting down all the way as the tubing OD was slightly smaller than the fitting OD
