Are they wired the same as standard RCA patch cables? Basically, why do they cost more than a standard A/V composite cable (besides the fact that people will pay it). I usually make all my cables myself, and I need this info now that I have a TV with component inputs.
 
They're the same as standard RCA cables, a center conductor and a outer shield. The price difference is party covered by the higher quality, and like you said, people are willing to pay for branding.

So, why do the cables cost anymore than the standard A/V cables if they are exactly the same? Basically a problem of consumer ignorance? I HATE corporate lies and marketing. :mad:
 
But like I said, they're really NOT exactly like standard RCA cables. They're of much higher quality than the stuff you'd get like included with a new VCR.

I prefer not to pay for branding too, but quite often do. I figure I put almost 5K into my AV gear, so to look behind it and see "Joe's Cables" would just not be right somehow!
