I am looking to get a VGA to component cable for a 26" widescreen samsung TV (tube). I read that to use just a VGA to component cable that your video card has to support Sync on Y/Green.

I figure my 9600xt can do that, but I wanted to make sure first.

I'm guessing I can run a rather recent resolution on the TV. It's model TX-R2678WH. It supports 1080i, but I think 1920x1080 would hurt my eyes a bit. I would likely use 1280x720. Is it readable using VGA -> Component cables in this fashion? I also have an HDMI input but that will likely be for my Satellite HD receiver.

PS I haven't gotten the TV yet, so we'll start a poll also for the 2 models I'm looking at.

thats a new one to me. i wonder if that's different than just 'Sync on Green' which most cards DONT support (some OLD monitors, mostly apple-related needed that, had to get a $35 adapter http://www.si87.com/Products/Cabling/Adapters/ss1spec.html

maybe it's right, but i have used the supplied ATI component dongle or the ATI DVI-component adapter. Until you find someone who gives a definate 'YES,that will work' i'd get ATI's

Special DVI-I to YPrPb Adapter (Purple, P/N 151-V01093) is for use with the following graphics boards:
Radeon® 9800 series
Radeon® 9700 series
Radeon® 9600 series
Radeon® 9500 series
All-in-Wonder® Radeon® 8500DV (64MB)
All-in-Wonder® Radeon® 8500 (128MB)

I'm guessing if I use an ATI DVI to component output, I would be less susceptable of overscanning than using a DVI to HDMI cable (though I'm going to be using that input anyway)?
