I am never keen on these 'guides' to show what wattage one needs for the computer.
I am wondering if there is a near enough 'rough' guide as to what parts use ? amps. on modern components.
All I (think) I know is that hdd's will use about 2-3amps on spin up and opticals about 2A.
What about a motherboard.......say NF4.
What about a cpu.......do they vary greatly ?
Memory.....probably not much to worry about, but say 2 sticks (2 x 512mb) will account for some amps.
Gfx card....say a 7800GTX or 8600 pci-e.
If you get the idea.
For working out what amperage + wattage when getting a new PSU.
It is just that if I wanted to get a new unit, I could roughly work out what my components would use, add them up, and then choose.
Does this make any sense, or is it far too general to give a rough guide ?
Thanks for your patience..........
