Top Nurse said:Is it possible to use Disk 1 and 2 (Raptor 36Gb) to make a RAID 0 array and then use another Raptor 76Gb (Disk 3) in a RAID 1 array that uses the 2 Raptor 36Gb's as one half of the set?
Just for kicks, are we talking hardware or software though
So sort-of hardware and hardware. With Linux software raid, you can do this, and I considered doing it for a while. You can define one raid device that has the two raptors as members, and then another with the raid and the 74 as members.Top Nurse said:Well I have both the onboard RAID stuff (SI and Nvidia) and I also have a 4 port Promise RAID 5 card with 256mb of ECC.

Well it looks like I'm still going to have to make images of my RAID 0 array with DriveImage
I think I will do the 74Gb Raptor as my primary OS drive and use 3 36Gb Raptors in a RAID 5 array for my data. Which brings me to another question...is it really that advantageous to use the Raptors in a RAID 5 configuration? Or would it work just as well with 7200 RPM drives?
