Im playing around with the idea of running a silent 1156 computer.

Anyone know what temps to expect running a stock clocked 1156 computer without any fans other than the PSU fan and 5770 fan?

There will be a Cooler Master Hyper 212 being cooled passively positioned so heat rises from the fins and up out of the case through the top 2 fan grills. The 5770 is not a rear exhaust, so it dumps hot air into the case.

I'd recommend having at least one out-take fan. You can get fans that are absolutely silent.

The reason being most passively cooled pcs use heatpipes to conduct the heat and directly dump it outside the case where there is much greater capacity for the heat to convect. In your case, the heat will build up loads in the case and the heatsink will become completely ineffectual when the temperature of the surrounding air matches the temperature of the heatsink.

Have one case fan for a bit of airflow - you don't even need a particularly powerful one.

I was going to say a 400rpm fan is silent but you have a PSU fan and 5770 fan so you won't even notice a 800rpm fan.

Interesting idea. What case are you going to be putting your components in? Not including the PSU fan, I have a S-Flex 800 rpm, '8.7 dba' fan on a Big Shuriken and a NoiseBlocker 700 rpm, '9 dba' fan as intake and I can still hear the NoiseBlocker fan from about 5-6 feet away. It'll also depend on sensitive your hearing is.
