I`ve been eyeing up a machine from IBUYPOWER.I see in your reviews you don`t like them very much.I can build a machine their for $1655.00 or so.It will include a NZXT PRC-550W power supply,AMD Athalon 64 X2 4200 dual core CPU,Coolmaster liquid CPU cooling fan system kit,Asus M2N32-SLI deluxe nForce 590-SLI MCP chipset,2048mb DDR-800 pc6400 Corsair memory,One Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB video card,One 320GB hard drive[serial-ATA-II,3gb,7200rpm,16m cache,2 drives DVD etc.onboard sound,Windows Vista Home premium,w/shipping included.

My question is is there another company out there that can match or com close to those specs at that price that you would recommend?

ABS machine was close but 7% sales tax in state I live in killed my budget.Would appreciate any advice.1st new machine in 5 years want to get it right.

I can tell you now. Do not be enticed by their "cheap" prices, because all you'll get is "cheap" service. I ordered a rig for my fiance a while back from IBUYPOWER and I can tell you that it was one of the worst decisions I've ever made computer wise. After a month, there was no computer at my front door. Another month went by, and still no computer because of "failed burn-in" processes. During these two months I had been calling, attempting to get someone on the phone to explain why it was taking so long. After many other annoyances I had finally had enough, I tried to cancel the order and they said they couldn't honor that, though there was no damn computer at my door! They were just going to try to sit on my money. After threatening to report them to the BBB and take them to court, they finally agreed to give me a refund. It took a while for the money to show back up in my account but after it did such I reported the card as stolen and got a new card, just to make sure they wouldn't make any attempts of charging more to my account. Low and behold, as I was on the phone to set up the new account, the representative for my bank informed me that someone had attempted to charge something to the "stolen" card account. Don't trust these snakes. They'll try to rob you of your hard earned money and its a long and painful process to get it back, if you can even get it back. Your best bet is just invest in a more respectable and reputable company (such as ABS), or invest some time in learning the mechanics of computers and build one yourself :D. Anyways, thats my 2 cents.

you buy that, and chances are youll have to add ~200 in shipping and everything when all is said and done to get a remotely livable rig :p

go for the velocity micro gamers edge 1500 for that price, and upgrade it a bit :) Intel core 2 duo is top dog right now. cant wait until i can afford one 0_0

cyberpower is the same company as ibuypower. Same address.

seriously, spend your hard earned money well and spend alittle more of it @ ABS or somewhere else more reputable.

Was trying to stay under 2 grand.Doesn`t seem likely.Hey aren`t processor prices coming down end of february?

Heres a list of sites I would personally recommend after reading reviews:
ABS
Overdrive PC
AVADirect
ViciousPC (I actually bought a laptop from them, gorgeous although hard didnt give them too good of a review :p)
Velocity Micro
Falcon Northwest (expensive though hehe)

Velocity Micro= Awesome.

I ought a machine from them, it arrived with problems but they got me back up and running as soon as possible. Tech support is great, and they often have great promotions. I got my machine with $50 discount and free shipping. Also pretty good value for the service you get.

Their cases are well built, not flimsy at all, and quiet. All brand name items.

VM also replies to inquiries on this forum. In fact, I think that this forum got VM to put windowed GX cases in. (Maybe not, but I do remember something like that.)

Go with them, you won't be disappointed. And BTW, that thread that says that the experience was disappointing, remember you can't change thread names here.

EDIT: Comparable system to yours at VM costs about 1900ish, no tax, and there's free shipping/ discounts this week.

Of the companies I've checked out,AVAdirect seems to have the best combination of reasonable price, selection of components, and high ratings for service and quality.Definitely stay away from Ibuypower/Cyberpower.

for the record... I ordered a socket 939 qpack from cyberpower after pricing all the parts at newegg, I paid @ $50 more than if I built it myself, and thats including shipping. I have since upgraded the psu, processor, ram, mobo, and added a second video card, but I dont regret my purchase. ibuypower and cyberpower are not the same company... cyberpower and xtremegear do have the same address.

Really? CyberPower and IBuyPower are the same company?

I noticed some weird parallels when I was looking into these companies a couple months ago (they have very similar deal offers, and the phrasing on parts of the sites seem identical). So, it wouldn't surprise me too much but sure does sound shady.

But anyway, I agree with everyone else. When you're putting in so much money, you really wany to try to get a machine from a company that will stand behind it. I would be really careful going for a system from one of these guys with very compromised reputations for the quality and customer support. And it might be just me, but I wouldn't trust those guys with any kind of liquid cooling, even if it was just for the processor.

like i said, ibuypower and cyberpower are not the same... but cyberpower and xtremegear are (www.buyxg.com)

i m not a huge fan of either and my next rig will be built with the parts remaining after my upgrades, but i wouldnt tell someone to shop elsewhere because my buying / ownership experience has been pain free.

2 friends got machines from IBUYPOWER and had no complaints. The machine I put together at xtreme gear was best price so far.I`m so tempted because ABS will cost me an extra $800 for same configuration. So confused and dying for new machine.$800 puts me back to saving for a long while, ugh!

Stay away from Ibuypower and Cyberpower. Velocity Micro is awesome. This is based on the feedback users on Hardforum and the fact that the VM team are active on the forums. How many companies have the CEO come and talk/interact with their customer?
