You know what I'd really like to see?
A database where you pick ANY current video card, and compare it to ANY other video card. side-by-side.. Benched across the same performance metric. I know there are, of course, complications to this, but, I was thinking "how much faster is say, an nvidia 6600GT pci-e in comparison to a radeon 9800 pro 128mb agp. Now, of course, they probably won't be running on the same motherboard, but with a scaling comparison, you could get a feel for the difference to be expected. don't know how exactly we would go about getting a baseline on this, mind you, but I'm sure some [h]ardheads out there have a better idea at it than I do.
In the interim, let me ask the question that is pending at me now
Which card would be a better performer "all around" for the widest variety of games, at the same resolution
xfx 6600GT 128MB agp or sapphire radeon 9800 Pro 128mb AGP?
Assuming the system itself is a p4 3.0, 800mhz fsb, fast hdd's, a gig of pc3200 or better ram, and not overclocked.
