I was wondering, I saw in a few threads above how to start an ATX power supply without plugging it in by connecting the green wire and the black one, but I work in an IT company that fixes Compaq stuff alot (go figure) and I wanted to know if it is any different from the usual generic stuff (like that'll work)

Thanks for any advice

ATX is a standard so it will work on a compaq ATX PSU along with any other ATX PSU

Depends on how old a psu it is from the compaq they did go against spec on some of the older atx psus. Mainly some pins just were not there i dont think they reversed pins or nothing of that nature.
