ok, ok get the jokes out about the compaq thing. its running win98se

anyways, I went to shut down pc and it froze when shutting down so I held the power button down and it still didnt shut down, so I pulled the plug on it as it doesnt have a power switch on the back. now it wont power on when I press the button, is the motherboard fried or is it the actual power button that is broken? anyway to test this? when I plug it in there is nothing, no lights, no fans. I did test the power supply and it is working fine.
