My dad was on it before and I came home and tried to start it up but every time I try all the lights will come on for like a second and it turns off. I'm thinkin the power supply is shot. Could it be anything else? I have a lot of stuff in my comp on a thermaltake purepower 480 watt psu.

Definitely could be the PSU. How old is it?
You should probably try a new PSU.

You say the lights come on. Do the fans move at all? Do they spin up or just twitch? The mobo could also be the culprit.

yea all my fans are blue led fans but everything starts up and just turn off like a second later

I would suggest you check and make sure the CPU fan did not become disconnected from the fan header on the motherboard. Some MOBO's won't let the system boot up if it doesn't get a signal from that fan.

It could also be a short... the power supply could be powering down the board to prevent damage. To fix this, you can try re-seating the memory, AGP card, and PCI cards.

This kind of problem is difficult to diagnose. You will just have to be patient and try things until it works.

I doubt you have fried parts-- you usually have smells/freezups before it finally dies.

Good luck!
