Comp reboot during Crysis

Hi yall,

My computer rebooted during crysis. I am thinking the video card is the culprit? I have a GTX295 and a Q9300 @ 3.5 ghz (Prime95 stable). The card was at 83C when I reloaded windows, so I dont know exactly how hot it was during the game. I have a Thermaltake 700W PSU and both 8pin and 6 pin connectors are plugged into the GTX295. Any thoughts?
 
Put the CPU back at stock 2.5 ghz and ran 20 loops of crysis benchmark. Computer locked up somewhere in the middle of the run :(
 
Also my CPU runs at 58C idle.. ugh. I have a Coolermaster Hyper 212 running stock speed/vcore. WTF could be going on??
 
GPU @ 83C... That normal?

Drivers?
Corrupt game file?
Run memtest?
Run Intel Burn Test with a high memory load?

Other games that do this?
 
No other game does it...
Intel burn test pases at 3.5ghz and at stock speeds with 10 rounds
Using latest nvidia drivers
Have not run memtest
 
Do a clean sweeper of the drivers and start fresh.

Give memtest a go

Are you making the memory size greater in Intel burn test?

Could be a corrupt file... could try to reinstall game.
 
83 degrees is a little on the unstable side, you tried raising the GPU fan speed at all, I don't trust my 260's fan control so they are forced to run at 80% when running any games, they never get the chance to go above 65c.
 
I am running IBT at standard (1024mb).

I am going to Prime95 all night and then memtest for a couple hours, just to isolate that it is the GTX295 and then go from there
 
Haven't seen anyone suggest yet that the PSU may not be up to the task, so thought I'd throw that in here...

Could unplug everything un-needed to run the system... HDDs etc... would free up watts, but in less the PSU is bad I don't think it should have any problem with that system at all.
 
I've read of other people having this issue with GTX295s and Crysis. Maybe its just a software issue.
 
Update: Set the fan to 100% with the Evga precision tool and it ran 10 rounds of crysis without a hiccup! Avg FPS 47 at 1680x1050 with 4x AA. Lookin good. Except the fan at 100% is kinda loud
