I built a cheapie computer for my Grandma with a Gigabyte board (GA-7VM266) and a 2000+ Tbred. Everything was working perfectly fine until recently when it began shutting itself off. I took a look at it and in the BIOS the temp is reading 150C or something like that, and yet 2F. The 2 problems with that are obvious: they're not the same temp and there's no way the CPU is at 150C. So I thought maybe that was just causing the safety shutoff to kick in and I disabled it. No luck, still turns off.
My question is do you think that's a problem with the CPU or the mobo? And might you have any ideas how to fix it? I don't have spare boards/CPUs lying around to troubleshoot with. I also didn't try reinstalling the CPU or anything, dunno if that would do it or not. I'd like to try to have an idea before I start calling up support.
Thanks for any help.
