My comp keeps restarting whenever I try to play a 3D game. I don't know whats going on at all. It all started when I bought 512mb ram and putting it in my machine. Couple days later it restarted in CSS after 30-40 mins. I suspected i forgot to set the timining higher because it was rated higher than my old ram. Anyway I continued, but restart got worse and faster. So I took out the new ram and stuck with my old 512mb ram with my old overclocked settings. It improved and I had no restarts for couple of days, then things went to hell and started restarting when I barely join a CSS game same for warcraft. So I thought maybe my XP was corrupt and I formatted my machine and installed XP again with all the drivers. Now its even worse, its restarting in the game menu! FFS! I tried setting to default, no dice. Then I even downclocked everything, the game restarted after a few moments of gaming.
It seemed tied to the oc, but I have been running on 260x10 for more than 2 years. Now its crapping out at 180x10?!
It aces all the superpi test and memtest for over 24 hrs. Only in games does it restart, no blue screen. I could even superpi 24hrs with overclocked settings. What is going on with my system!?
My system:
Asrock Dualsata2
x800xl pci-express
512mb Supertalent 2.5 timming
512mb kingston 3 timming
80 gig Maxtor SATA II
1 DVD Burner
1 DVD Drive
Austin 250PSU (Generic came with case)
On a side note, I peeled off a label that was sticked back of my x800xl, something about the p/n number label. There was residual stick stuff on the back wonder if that might somehow cause the card to disfunction...
