I have put together this parts list after many hours of research :D

Motherboard: P5K Deluxe/WiFi-AP
CPU: Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 (2.4GHz 1066MHz)
CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS9700 NT (Green LED)
RAM: T2X2048-64C4DHX (800MHz 4-4-4-12)
Graphics Card: EVGA e-GeForce 8800GTX (768MB)
Power Supply: Thermaltake ToughPower 850w (Modular)
Hard Drive: 320GB SATA2 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10
Optical Drive: LG GSA-H42LBBK 18+- Dual Layer Black OEM with Lightscribe
Case: Thermaltake Armor Full
Floppy Disc Drive: 3.5" Floppy Disk Drive 1.44MB Black (Generic)
Mouse: Logitech G5 Gaming Mouse
Keyboard: Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard

This is my beast! I plan to overclock it. I don't want a MASSIVE CPU COOLING TOWER.

Please tell me if you think i should make changes/or if i did a good job...

Also comment on what screen I should get. Im looking at a Dell, ASUS or Samsung 22" LCD or a 19". I want HDCP support and i wana use D-SUB cause they are both supported by y 8800GTX.

Do you think it is worth OCing the 8800GTX indstead of buying the pre-overclocked version? Or just not OC it at all...;)

Thanks in advance :p .

Don't see a reason to OC a GTX. Happy with mine at stock clocks.

I love my Samsung LCD.

That case is... an acquired taste, I guess. In my opinion there are much better options.

Will you actually use all the extra stuff on the P5K Deluxe? My inherent distrust of ASUS tells me to suggest the Gigabyte DQ6 board instead.

New batch E6600's don't OC very well in many cases. An E6420 will likely get you higher. (New batch E6600's are stopping at or just above 3Ghz for many people, where as most E6420's will hit 3.2Ghz+, and cost less.)

Want it or not, the MASSIVE CPU COOLING TOWERS will beat the hell out of that Zalman.

hmm ok yeah i probs wont OC the GTX

is your LCD the 22" one?

hmm look at this for the ASUS board:

yea i like the extra stuff :D

hmm E6600s not OC well eh... well thats my new hard decision... :(
i think i will stick with the E6600, i'd be happy with a 3.0GHz OC my mate has his at 3.4GHz :)

I have used the case and i love it!

The cooler isn't a major issue. I may go for a tuniq tower ;)

The 22" Samsung 226BW is an great choice for a monitor. That is what I currently use and am very happy with it. I was using a 19" Samsung before which my son now uses. It took me a bit to find the Samsung here in the stores where I live but was well worth the wait.

I would wait 19 days to get a quad core Q6600 for the same price as the E6600, or at least an E6850 which is basically an E6600 with a higher stock speed. If you don't want the quad core, the word on the street is that the new G0 stepping of CPUs (E6850 included) overclock like a beast.

Mark.

i have decided to go with the ABIT P35 PRO cause it has better layout with 90degree satas and it has better features.

hmm 19 days... i've seen people get to 4GHz+ on ABIT with E6600... 500MHz FSB it's insane...

im thinkign the samsung 22" is the way to go :D

Read reviews... I've not had good luck with ABIT boards, though I seem to be the exception rather than the rule, at least.

honestly why not just get a quad core?????? only 19 days, not to menchin as cheap as a e6600, and can be overclocked to 3ghz+

They are pretty toasty though, and without a big cpu cooler which he said he didn't want OCing could be a problem.

an e6600 on the other hand could do some nice overclocking. I dunno, a pretty tough decision either way.

I'd probably go with quad and just leave it stock.

I think that the chances of getting to 4 ghz on an E6600 are pretty much 0 w/o an exotic cooling technique such as phase change cooling--no matter the motherboard.

Keep in mind that many reviews of the E6600, which was a launch chip btw, are of engineering samples which are cherry picked to be the most capable processors in a manufacturing wafer. While the reviewer can get a cherry picked sample chip up to 4 ghz on conventional cooling techniques (water / air,) the average consumer has to be damn lucky to be able to OC that high. In reality, the general high end for an E6600 on air is 3.6 ghz, and for that you'll need a very good cooler such as a Tuniq Tower or a Thermalright Ultra 120. Assuming you get an average or even an above average E6660, you'll have to reduce the processor's multiplier to run a 500mhz FSB. 500x7 would be reasonable, resulting in a 3.5Ghz proc.

Furthermore, the latest E6600 batches are known not to OC that well, with many not making it past 3.2 or 3.4 ghz with the best of support. In fact, many people are suggesting others get E6420 chips as a result, as they've shown to have more OC headroom as of late.

If you want a 4 ghz chip, you're best bet is to wait 19 days and get a G0 stepping dual core--namely the Core 2 Duo E6850, which will retail for the same price as a current E6600 and will clock natively at 3.0 ghz. Early reports show these chips to be OC beasts, so with a little hope, you may not have much of an issue getting an E6850 to 4ghz on even a midrange air cooler like the zalman.

Good luck,

Mark.

I would rather get the Q6600 rather than any of the e* series.
