I want to build a computer that I will be hauling around all over and using as a central database server for a gorup of computers. The database will be getting data from a slew of RS232 connected devices and serving this data via a PostgresSQL database server to ~20 users. The data will also be shown over HTTP to local users.

As a secondary job the computer will be connected to the internet using a cellular modem (not sure which kind...maybe a PCMCIA AT&T Aircard in a PCI adapter card) and uploading database updates to our internet database server.

As it's third job I was thinking of using it as a router/ dhcp server/ firewall so that everyone at each location can get on the internet.

As such, I was looking at building the hardware with:

MSI IM-945GC Mainboard
Undetermined case (small, durable, preferably fanless, space for one 2.5" drive, optical drive optional)
Emphase Industrial DDR2 667 2GB
~32GB SSD Hard Drive

For the OS I was thinking about running Ubuntu.

For routing purposes I was thinking about integrating Untangle.

What are your comments on this build?
