Command & Conquer 3

Quoted from PC Gamer, "Specifically, the team wants to tightly couple the story to gameplay, so that more of the plot unravels as you play the game, instead of unfolding in cutscenes."

Wow so it looks like they won't have live action cut scenes. I don't want to hear the story during a frigging battle, I just want to fight the battle. Your supposed to get your mission, fight the battle, and then debrief like it has always been in C&C before EA fucked it up in Generals. The cutscenes were fun and just about everybody loved them, its what helped made C&C the game it was.

Eat my ass, EA.

Unless they can maybe do it like Red Alert 2 where the window would turn into a video and stuff would happen.

I know EA is trying to make this all hip and cool now but I want the fucking classics of Command and Conquer.... if they fuck this up enough hopefully they can just lay the series to rest before they fuck it up even more.

Yep. It going to be like the latest Rainbow Six scenerio. They had one chance to bring it back and they didnt do it. Im not talking about EA, but whoever produced it. I know Ubisoft publishes it, but dont know the developers. Now that series needs to be layed to rest so it doesnt get any more worse. The first one was so good, then Ravens Shield was alright then they started coming out with those console versions and it was shot to hell. I hope this game doesnt end up like it. This is the game that got me into RTS's in the first place. You dont come acroos many good RTS's these days. Last one that got me hooked was Empire at War.

I loved the cut scenes with Tanya...so hot... anwyays

If EA fucks this up like with Generals it'll just be another nitch in the bed post. Still I buy it because Im a die hard C&C fan but I really hope they capture the old fun with new hardware, and by hardware I mean units and buildings.

Yup im the same way. Bought every damn single Cand C game that came out eventhough Generals i havent beaten and the expansion pack i lost interest. sheeesh
:(

Didn't they annonce Red Alert 3 over two years ago? What the hell? Not that I am complaining about a CC3 that goes back to its roots, but did they scrap red alert 3 or something?

What a fluff article. The need to ask the developer questions like "EA is known for buying innovative game companies and running their franchises into the ground with mindless sequels. What are you doing to insure this doesn't happen to CnC 3?"

Instead we get high res models of units from the first game and quotes like "the team is tweaking the code for fast response," and "it features a slightly updated engine from Battle for Middle Earth 2."

Not much different than the ads EA pays to run in the magazine.

Between RA1, and RA2, I spent a ton of time on westwood online. Then generals came by...that game didn't hold my attention for more than a couple of hours, I was so disappointed. With EA, I have a feeling this won't hold my attention either, but I may be wrong, hopefully I am.

Ive been drooling for a new strategy type game like C&C Generals for awhile. Please tell me the engine wont suck ass this time. C&C Generals lagged like a 26k dialup connection on my 500Mhz amd when I did a 4vs4 multiplayer. Upgraded to my 3000+ amd, 6600GT, 1 gig of ram, loaded up C&C generals and saw the same laggyness and random crashes .

This better have some good multiplayer or else im going to bitch, rant and kick my feet till it hits the $9.99 rack at wal-mart ;).

It also states that the team is unsure if they're going to contact Kane's actor to reprise his role as Kane.

So, there's still a chance. If they re-hire him, then I guess that means cut-scenes are in.

Personally, I'd rather not have live cutscenes. Live cutscenes are soooo early 1990's... not to mention beyond corny in a "serious" atmosphere that EA is trying to revive.

I've already lost hope. Thanks to the cost cutting methods of EA, reusing the BFME2 engine == total failure. BFME2 isnt a bad game by any means, but its no CNC. I know i know it wont be the same they are going to change it, but the underlying feeling that makes cnc cnc wont be there, it will still have that bfme2 aftertaste. You gamers know what im talkin about, the general "feel" of the engine running the game.

WHAT THE CRAP IS THIE BULLSH@T...why is everyone so pessimistic?

Finally, after 7 years since the last "true" C&C game has come out EA brings back a legend in gaming and all everyone can do is complain about how they can possibly screw it up? Geez give the guys working on it a chance. If you actually read some of that article and online searching maybe you'd notice how dedicated EA seems to want to bring C&C back to its former glory. For hecks sake, they've stated in that magazine that they've done work with MIT (yes, the school) on how the effects of Tiberium has changed the landscape in the C&C universe through their own created scientific models. If that isn't dedication to developing a great game I don't know what is.

Lets keep an open mind until the game finally comes out eh?

Yes I was impressed they added real world physics with the Tiberium.

EA Has an Offical Site HERE

thats funny, i had it running pretty well at an internet caffe which was composed of XP 2500+, 512 PC2700 ram, and a mix of 9200's/5200's, had one computer randomly crash in only that game but i never saw it crash in any other game, there was some jittery'ness when making a game, but other then that generals and zero hour both ran fine

I loved Generals/ZH in the LANs. Still play it occasionally. Of course in typical EA fasion, the online matchmaking and support was a joke.

If this game is like generals and has good online support then I will be all over it. Of course this is EA so the chances of that happening are nil. EA sucks. Looking forward to Supreme Commander instead :)

Just got this PC gamer in the mail today. Time to see what this is about.

I have never, ever, been able to play a LAN game with AI players without immense slowdown after a few minutes, even hosted on a new, fast, computer.
The same goes for skirmish games: Four hard AIs are enough to slow it to a slideshow for me.
(P4 2.8 , 1 Gb ram, Radeon 9800)

Generals wasn't that great. Zero Hour was hella fun online, regardless if it wasn't "CnC" enough for me.

DROOL..... The original actor playing Kane again... it makes me want to pee my pants in happiness!!
