Command and Conquer: The First Decade

Even though I own every game on the list, I'll still be buying it just so I don't have to worry about XP and the older games in the series.

Just thought I would let you guys know that RA2 competitive play is back in full swing and is being monitored very well, limiting the number of cheaters greatly. Check out www.strike-team.net for more info. I play a lot and have a blast, I enjoy it better than any new 3d rts's with shiny graphics. Fast and furious gameplay wins in my book.

Since EA is waiting forever to release Red Alert 3, I suppose I will get this to keep me busy even though I have bought every game on that list at least twice.

Does anyone in here play Zero Hour? Is that a taboo question since it was produced after the EA takeover?

I heard Red Alert 3 just started production, so it might be another year or 2 before we see news on it.

I haven't played it in a while, but I own, have played, and really enjoyed Zero Hour. I eagerly await the next game in the C&C series.

Westwood > all

God, I cant begin to count how many hours Ive invested in this series.

Tesla coils are my hero

Hmmmm.....I love RTS, and for whatever reason I have only played Tiberian Sun which as I understand it was one of the weaker offerings in the series. I went to best buy with the intention of getting General and Zero hour compilation, but walked out with Warhammer 40K instead. This I will have to buy. I cannot think of a better way to take the lid of em than with a monster pack. If only I didn't have to give money to EA for them. Sigh.

this XWIS, does it let you play red alert the original? westwood chat no longer works and i REALLY want to play some games of RA:after math with my buddy.

any help?

sure does!

You can play Tiberian Dawn (C&C1), Red Alert 1&2 (and Yuri's Revenge, not sure on Aftermath), Tiberian Sun, Renegade, and Nox

http://xwis.net/xcl/

However, only RA2, YR, and TS have ladder play, the others just have "for fun" games

God I played the original Red Alert with the Counter Strike and Aftermath(I think) expansion packs even before I had the internet.

Everytime I heard people talking about Counter-Strike I thought they were referring to Red Alert.

cool, i remember the command and conquer for n64 and thought that was pretty cool. i own tiberian sun & firestorm expansion and red alert 2 yuri's revenge. kick ass games

For 39.99 it will be mine...oh yes precious it will.

LMAO, you're damn straight kahnvex! It's going to be "my preciousss..." as well when I see it on store shelves. Incidentally, I happened to be in a best buy the other day picking up some gift cards for some friends for christmas and happen to see a similiar thing on the racks. But I think it was called C&C Collection or something like that. Had these games on it as well, but, If I remember correctly not all of them that are in this pack. Good thing I came across thread because I was going to go back and get it on christmas eve lol.

Zero Hour is great. The best. I play it on occassion. Really to accompany a friend. But I don't mind.

It will be nice to have those games playable under Windows XP...
Agreed. While I REALLY wish they'd release new content (missions and such) for the old games, there's a really good chance I'm going to buy this. And yes, I own every Command and Conquear game, except the very first one BEFORE Red Alert, and Renegade (which is a different game IMO). I remember how crushed I was when I realized my Red Alert wouldn't run on Windows XP

Smart move by EA, and a great deal. I'd recommend this package to ANYONE... so many games....

um, I have Red alert and aftermath installed in my pc with xp pro. it's not hard. there's a compatiblity box you click.

insert Disc
go to my computer
right click on compact disc that is holding the RA cd
go to explore
right click the setup.exe
go to the compatibility tab
check the run in windows 95 box(it might be unchecked, it's whichever isn't) it's been a while so this may be a little off.

i'll confirm when i get home.

someone try it.

command & conquer for 4 win!

i wish they would include dune too, since that is where it all started. remember playing dune2 and warcraft 1 where u couldn't even right click to move units? :)

yea i played the campaign (cant remember if it had online multi) and on the chinese and terrorist campaigns came to levels that i found impossible. i just checked, i still have it but i seem to remember having probs playing it on xp with an nvidia card, but it worked fine on win2000.

I have gotten Yuri's Revenge to work in WinXP, I used to have a problem but compat mode works for some reason. Now the only problem is getting to connect to the internet and the various install errors.

I'm debating on buying two of these things...One to keep wrapped up and tucked away and another to open. Though I honestly don't know what I will do with 2 RA2, 3 Yuris, 2 Generals, 2 Zero hours, 2 Tiberian Suns, 2 Firestorms, and 2 Renegades...

I read somewhere when I came across this that EA is making patches for all games so that they work in XP, its unconfirmed and I can't find the site that linked to the EA one :(

A website I used to Frequent to was www.deezire.net The deezire mod for RA2 and TS is insane, its like playing against a human opponent.

Compatibility Mode SUCKS very bad. It almost never works. It will work on an application for one person, but not for another. It's such a broken feature that nobody uses it, or even thinks about using it. So yes, WinXP support is one of the biggest selling points of this bundle.

Man, the old command and conquers were the greatest. I loved the original. Now i dont really play RTS, but I tried out generals and it kind of sucked...EA had to buy westwood and turn their games to shit. It makes me sad :(

I have to use Proxify to few the EA page so maybe I am not seeing a second page, but I havent actually seen saying that the originals will indeed play on XP. Anyone have a link to see where they say the old one will indeed be able to play? I hate being stuck in iraq on a military network and be blocked for shit. I play RA2 on XP all the time and I have played tiberian sun, but dammit I want to play the old C&C and Red Alert! :D

There isn't a second page. They never come right out and say that all the games will work with XP, however they do say programming is being done. It would be extremely boneheaded to release a game like this and it not be updated.

Where are you located at? I'm on Balad (Anaconda).

In Baghdad right now. In Sadam's old palace. Going home in about just under 2 weeks, I cant wait.
I kind of figured they would make it so you could play them on XP, I just wanted to make sure. I have seen worse, but not from Westwood which is a good thing. One of the guys here said he found some kind of patch so that he could play the old Red alert in XP but I would have to fire it up to test it. The way I figure, I would rather just buy the decade pack though.

I agree it would be stupid for them to release this pack and not have up-to-date versions. It'd would be sweet if they released the pack with all games already updated to the newest/newer versions so that we don't have to hunt down the patches.

My friend got the orignal C&C to work in xp, he had to turn his graphic settings down, 800x600 16bit colors etc etc. Graphics are just to powerful to run an older game. :)

Just checked up on this, 2 days til it ships!!! AND
All games will have compatibility with WinXP and improved networking!

Once again I cannot wait.

:)

Oh god, I'm so excited. I'm gonna order this then Empire at War. I'm not even a Star Wars fan, but that game is sweeeett!

P.S.: Thank you for the bump!

EDIT: Just to clarify, the release date is 2/10/06.

You can use right-click commands in Warcraft 1... not in Dune though.
