Just letting yall know about Comcast X1......

Unsure if its been made public because in their testing areas of the South East only employee's can have it.

But anyhoo.....

Its a digital box with a remote, that is pretty much a smart tv with the cable box in one. So, pandora, facebook, twitter, netflix etc etc.....all are on there.

For sports, if you're watching a sporting event and want to see the scores of another event occurring you can "split screen" it into the other event (not PIP) but still an interactive GUI to see the score.

And the best thing of all.....everything is balls fast. Switch channels is pretty much instant.....VOD happens as soon as you click it on the remote....insanely fast! And VOD is on par with HULU and Netflix in regards to once you turn it to VOD you have the HULU and Netflix option right next to it.

Unsure of pricing since employee's only at this point......but its pretty intense....

Only downside I know of at this time is the remote cannot turn off the X1 box.....

Any questions, I can answer them!

X1 has been around for well over a year, and is available in over 50% of their markets. For what it is, it's ok but it's nothing that a HTPC couldn't do 5 years ago, not to mention they seem to only bundle it with Triple play customers, and prefer to give it to new customers.

this probably should be in HTPCs btw.
