If you are a Comcast subscriber you probably want to read this article. Hit the link to get the full rundown on the scam.

With the holiday season here, we are seeing a rise in online scams that attempt to trick victims into giving out personal information and extorting money for bogus services. This latest one is particularly sneaky because it starts with an advert on Comcast’s Xfinity search page, the largest provider of cable internet access in the US, which attempts to infect visitors via an exploit kit and finally delivers a tech support scam.

People are falling for these scams left and right. If a stranger comes to your door and tells you your plumbing is failing and needs work, do you let him in? Of course not, because how the hell would he know? You get a call from someone and he tells you there are problems with your computer, and asks if he can remote in, do you let him? Apparently yes. People are so gullible.

Comcast released a statement saying that "they are very concerned about the attack" and that "no-one has a right to rip off or maliciously target their customers except Comcast."

;)

The dismal state of web design is fully illustrated by the security site warning us about malware being loaded from a 3rd party domain is itself trying to run scripts from five 3rd party domains.

According to the article the scam is pushed through Comcast's own webpage by way of infected ads, so it uses the perceived safety of using the company's official site to trick customers:
