Combining two psu's

My PSU (a crappy noname 300W) doesn't seem to give me enough juice to get a decent overclock. Since I have no money but a couple of 300 and 250W psu's I was wondering if there is any benefit from combining two PSUs with say a Y connector for the motherboard connector.
I know I can use one to power discs and stuff, and use one solely for the MB. But I would really like to combine two for the MB, if there is any benefit.

so would 2x300W=600W or...

Are there any negative effects?

you can however use one PSU to plug into your motherboard and use the other 250 to power all of your optical devices, fans, and disk drives. that would allow for some more juice to your motherboard and all of that stuff

how about we...

and for your other question, no dont combine them... just use one for your mobo and another for your drives, also as a precaution you should ground them to each other

you also want to wire them both in such a way that both are turned on at the same time (the green and black wires)... or better yet - dump them and get a good 500W PSU. how about them apples?

you mean kind of like the pretty pictures that explain how to do exactly that in the FAQ?

Well I did and it didn't answer my question. Hence I asked it.

Thansk all for the replys.

quick threadjack....when combining the two PSU's is it necessary to solder the wires, or can a nice twistjob work alright?

At least get some crimp caps from a hardware store or rat shack and use those. Twisting wires is unsafe.
