Combining AVI files

I am looking for a free simple way to combine 2 .avi files. (movies)

Any recommendations?

VirutalDub might help if they're the same format (not just extension as all that tells you is the container) and the format allows combining like that.

I used to use Virtualdub, but it is old and doesn't work on Win 7.

I now use Avidemux, which I find works much better than virtualdub. It's got a bit friendlier interface and it makes joining .AVI files much easier.
