Combining 2 DC comps

I currently have two comps I use to run BOINC SETI@Home CUDA projects on. I was thinking about buying a 4 PCI-e board and combining parts from each to save space/electricity.

Usable parts from the 2 comps:
CoreDuo e6400
2x8800GS
9600GSO
9800GT
750w PSU
Ram/HDD/case

What I am wondering is if my current PSU will be enough power to do the job. Will an e6400 be able to keep 4 cards feed?
If the PSU is good enough and a dual-core will feed 4 GPU's then I only need to buy a new MOBO.

Anyone running BOINC CUDA apps please chime in on what your running and how it acts.

from my calulations with 2 9800GT's in sli plus 2 added pci-e x16 cards and the e6400 plus 1 hdd 1 optical drive your looking at around 480w..

reason i used the 9800GT's in the calculation is the fact that they are the 2 highest wattage usage cards out of the 4 so atleast it will give you the highest possible wattage usage.. but id say it would roughly be about that..

ill try and find what the full wattage usage each of those 4 cards are then do the math again..

and as for the dual core working with 4 cards it should be perfectly fine.. the most cpu usage i see when running seti boinc cuda is 7% but that was with my x2 be-2350 @ 3.05ghz.. havent tried it with my new phenom II 940.. so running 4 cards id say probably about 20% combined, at most..
 
You are mixing shader counts. You might have low preformance on the 9800GT or have EUEs.
Normaly though it isn't too bad as one of the cards is a 2XX series, so you are good there.

not sure how much of a difference it will make on boinc seti cuda.. atleast for me my shader clock makes no difference in the actual time it takes to finish a project.. but the gpu clock does.. but could also just be the way boinc calculates the completion times..

They seem to be running fine this way. The Pent D isn't very efficient, sucking up power and throwing out heat.
 
could always just replace the pentium D with a cheap low power intel dual core processor.. even though thats really one thing intels always lacked is a true low power cpu..

Mixing different shader counts and speeds doesn't effect Boinc Cuda like it does FAH.
I have mixed a lot of different cards around using Boinc Cuda with no degraded performance or increased errors on any of the combinations.
 
After taking a longer look at this, I don't think it would be the best use of my cash right now. I would actually lose production, no more output from the Pent D.

The best $$ to point investment would be a new 9800GT to match with the other one. I then move the 8800GS back to my main rig and pick up a Phenom II. This way when I combine the 2 comps I won't miss the Pent D..
