80% of the time when I open a folder that contains a video file an error pops up saying

"COM surrogate has stopped working"

I looked into this awhile ago and I was told to get rid of nero, i did that but im still having the same problem, Ive changed around and played with tons of codecs and still nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Foz

Both Nero and certain versions of Divx can cause that problem. Also, even though you got rid of Nero, you may also want to make sure the nero files causing the issue are actually gone. Try searching for NeVideo.ax and NeVideoHD.ax, and delete them.

I'd also suggest removing your existing codec pack and installing the latest version of it. The Vista Codecs are the best I've used for Vista. Just make sure any other codec pack has been removed first.

ok I got the error to stop but I no longer have nero, is there an update or something to fix that? Or is there a better burning program I should be using?

Thanks
