Colorimeter to get two monitors looking the same?

I have two monitors. A Dell U2410 as my primary monitor and a Dell G2410 as a secondary.

The color on the U2410 looks fine to me, but the G2410's colors look different. Not sure what words to use to describe the colors, but I guess they looked kind of washed out.

I've tried using its menu to change the individual colors, but just can't get it looking right.

Can I use something like the Spyder3Express to get the two monitors looking similar color-wise?

Is there anything that will scan / take a reading of the U2410's current colors save it to a profile then attach to the G2410 and let me change its colors until it matches the profile it saved for the U2410?

A hardware calibrator will definitely help the two monitors reach a near 1:1. But I suspect it will be nearly impossible for perfect equilibrium.

The closest one can get to matching monitors are two from he same production run running side-by-side, if they're without defect.

But yes, Spyder3Express should get them a lot closer to being matched.

However, the U2410 is an IPS monitor wheras the G2410 i'm betting is a TN monitor. It'll be natural, no matter what the setting, for there to be differences as the U2410 displays 8 bit colour and the G2410 displays 6-bit (and has to dither to get 8-bit).

Thanks guys. I do realize the the differences b/w their panels will make it impossible to get them exactly the same, but if a calibrator can get them close that would be good.

The Dell G2410 uses a TN panel so while it can be calibrated, it certainly will not match or come close to a well calibrated monitor with a IPS panel like the Dell U2410.

That's basically what I said right above you.

TN monitors are fine for daily office work which is what I use my monitors for. Not everyone here cares that IPS monitors are better. I just want to get them as close as possible.
