ColorFire 6850x2

Well there was a 6870x2 that was released, and it easily outperformed a 6970. The only real negative to the 6870x2 was the price. Given just how badly the 6870x2 outperformed the 6970, I'm pretty sure the 6850x2 would outperform a 6970 also. If they get the price right, this could be a great buy.

Another thing to consider is that there are a number of current games that quite clearly benefit from VLIW5 more than they do from VLIW4. That will no doubt continue to change as DX10/11 adoption gains more traction but as of right now even future games like BF3 are still going to support DX9. Most games that are DX9 or DX9 based still prefer VLIW5. Even though the 69xx series moved to VLIW4, the 68XX series is still on VLIW5, making the 6870x2 and this 6850x2 cards literally the fastest VLIW5 cards available (other than perhaps the 5970?). If your favorite game prefers VLIW5, then one or two of these cards would be hard to beat.

2GB per GPU is a nice touch on an HD6850X2, that stands to be quite a nice card. Shame it's an unofficial non-reference card from an almost unknown manufacturer. This does not bode well for reliability or warranty. I'd probably take an HD6970 over it, even if it cost me an extra $100.

i guess ColorFire is for asian markets only.

BF3 support DX9 only on the XBOX360 not on the PC.
