Color problems with Nvidia dvd decoder..

I bought the platinum version of the nvidia dvd decoder, but whenever i play a video, the video is always VERY VERY dark, sometimes too hard to make out what is going on. I can't find any options on the codec to change the video bright settings, anybody have any advice?
