Im about to ship my case off to be painted and wanted to know what color to paint it. I have an xaser case that is red and black on the outside. I have several red fans and red uv cable sleeving.

Should it be painted a flat black or a semi-gloss black? semi-gloss he said will be chaeper since he already has that made up.
 
do semi gloss black. sounds cool. how much is he charging by the way if you dont mind me asking or pm me. im thinking of getting a cheap case custom painted as well...i just need to pick out a case.

I was leaning toward the semi-gloss too. Also, they are charging around 80 - dont know how this price compares to others it seems like a good deal to me since i have found out first hand i cant paint a case worth crap :p.
 
What kind of paint is it? A powder coat for that I'd do in a heartbeat.

To your first question, black inside a case always looks perfect. Just try for something that isn't too glossy.
 
Just shipped it off today to get it painted semi-gloss. What is sad is the shipping was outrageous. I think i might just drive the 2hr to go get it back.
 
Ok so im really mad at myself. Thought i would vent and tell you something not to do.

DO NOT let UPS package anything. They are way to high! I got charged $22 for a box. Not a fancy box, but a plain brown box (guess i paid for the UPS logo on it). As long as you package you own stuff in your own box, UPS shipping rate is fine.

Totally agree... go to Home Depot and get a moving box instead for like $1.99 each. Although the shape may be a little off it's way cheaper and fill with peanuts or even a pillow so it can sleep at night :D
 
This may be too late, but I don't like the idea of black on the interior. I suppose if you DO go black, I would have it be a matte black.

Believe it or not, I would go with a lighter red than the exterior of your case. The case interior will have lights, and having a light'ish background will provide good contrast.
 
The UPS Stores are CRAZY over the price of a UPS depo/main office. While it would have cost me $120 to send a package to the UK for a friend at UPS Store, I took a drive to the shipping center and paid $38. Not too bad. You just need to stay away from the chain stores, or just use good old USPS.

Well i was trying to go with a red and black theme. Got new red fans, red sleeving, and some better red tubing. If i were to paint the inside red then that would offset my new red stuff.

It will be getting its coat tomorrow and i will be picking it up sat - going to go get it would be cheaper than shipping it back.
 
I would do the black for sure...It makes the hardware standout...believe me I've looked at alot of interior shot of cases..black looks GREAT!!

my 2 and one quater cents :D
 
People pay to have there case's painted?

I always wondered if there was any potential out there for custom work that i could do. I am a painter and would paint Case's all day if i knew i could have fun doing it without going broke.


BTW. Black shows dust, very very well.
 
Well i thought i would get my case back last weekend, but he didnt have it ready in time. He should be getting it done today. But the question now is should i pay to ship it back or should i wait until sat (the only time i have off) to go get the case?
 
just drive to get it. 2 hours isnt much. take your lady friend or a couple good CDs. :D also, im surprised no one suggested white. red/black/white looks so good. and to have the glow from the red leds glowing off the white would be sweet. oh well. i hope your case turns out awesome!

I think white would be too much. A slate gray would have also been a nice neutral color that would have provided a subdued backdrop/contrast.
