This is not so much a power supply question, but a power usage question, I figured this would be the best place to ask. So I have recently decided to build my own machine to save some money hosting, and give myself more configuration options. The Server is basically a storage/web server and will be hosted by Oplink in Houston. Since this is my first collocated server I need some advice on how much machine I can build under 1AMP or 120Watts (at the plug) based on average usage, with the CPU running below 50pct most of the time. This is the limit set by the Hosting company, and I do not want to have to rebuild this machine when I am trying to put it in the rack and then find out I am averaging over 1Amp. Here is the Hardware I plan on Using
Case: SUPERMICRO CSE-822T-400LPB Black 2U Rackmount Server Case
CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1230 Sandy Bridge 3.2GHz LGA 1155 80W Quad-Core
Mobo:SUPERMICRO MBD-X9SCM-F-O LGA 1155 Intel C204 Micro ATX Intel Xeon E3 Server Motherboard
Memory: Kingston 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) ECC
HDD: I will have 2x1TB WD Black Drives, and (up to) 4x2TB or 3TB 5400RPM drives
Fans: may only run 2 or 3 of the 4 Fans in the case.
Like i said 120watts is the goal of what the machine should Average, not at Peak. So for a web-server, this will be mostly Idle, but I want to get as much machine as I can in there, so I do not have to mess with replacing it for several years, and do ya'll think this system will fall under this 120W margin?
