Ok so I started college 2 weeks ago and they have have wifi all around the campus. The thing is too log onto it, you have to bring up your browser and log in through there. The thing is I log in and can browse the internet. I CANT however, check my mail through mail, adium isn't able to connect, alot of other programs on my mac can't run also. Is there anyway I can get these programs to connect?

I'd wager that your school's IT department knows a bit more about their network than we do. ;) Try checking with them.

sure its just a forced proxy. Just need to relate the software with IE and then give it ur password and username

If its like my school (Devry), all ports aside from http and https and ftp are closed. I can't even use ssh. This was recently enforced though because of abuse of filesharing and online gaming.

Work around? Get permission to use the wired connections (I do since I work for the IT)

You'll probably find that there a quite a few SSL Based VPN Products out there that allow you to tunnel ANY traffic (TCP\UDP) through port 43 (SSL). I use it all the time at school and it's awesome. Look up "SSLExplorer".
