i want to see your im in the market for buying some but i don't know witch ones i want.

People still use cold cathodes? I haven't put cold cathodes in my PC since the Athlon XP days.

EDIT: I didn't mean to crap on your thread, sorry. I didn't know people still used cathodes. I thought LEDs or something would be used instead of bulky cathodes.

Rather than make a new thread...

Does anyone know if you can splice the cathodes together?

Meaning; The inverter has 2 outputs for cathodes and 1 input for the power... can I splice 2 cathodes together in parallel, and hook them up to one of the outputs on the inverter? Or is that not safe?

Because I have lots of cathodes, just not enough inverters. Not sure where they went .. and I am trying to combine colors to get a certain color I want.

@fuelvolts: i think ccfls have a diff look from leds, at least thats why i chose ccfl over led for my last build

@ang shouldn't be a problem because the output is AC and in theory no different from using a power strip. since it's not DC the cable won't melt from heat or anything either.

Agreed. CCFL's I think have more uniform light coverage than LEDs which are more concentrated.

ok i know some of you guys got some random pics laying around with cathodes in them

Ok, I am not at home so I reused pictures from other threads but here you go:

Finally found my Camera Charger!!!! My CM Elite340 :)

edit:

Had to do a drawing final. Pretty much draw whatever you want from observation (no pictures, had to be seen in person). He said either make it a REALLY good drawing, or creative. I think I'll be the only one bringing a computer to class that day. Just like I was the only one to lug 20 bricks in a suitcase that I drew the Sears Tower on.

Ok having a problem... I am pretty sure I'm wiring this up in parallel but this is what happens...

Here is a diagram of how I am wiring it too:

But no matter how I do it the blue one is always dimmer... There is no positive and negative to this right?

And whenever I plug the Blue/green one in.. the white one gets dimmer...

One thing though is that the White one is a 12" Cathode and the Blue/Green ones are 4 Inch. but should that make a difference?

The only way I can get them both to light up evenly is if I wire it up in Series.. but then they are both dim..

maybe the inverter limits voltage after the first arc is established in one of the lights and deprives the second of enough voltage for the first arc? but that shouldn't be since they're parallel. perhaps the inverter just isn't supplying enough power

on a side note the dimness of your blue ccfl looks just like my ccfl when only one of the wires (the blue or the red cant remem which) was plugged in but not the other.

For your blue CCFL that looked like mine, if I plugged only 1 part in, it would be about half of what it is now...

However, I wired it up in 'series' if you can call it that. I combined one wire from each of the Cathodes, and put 1 wire from each of the cathodes into the end of the inverter. It's a little bit dimmer, but still bright enough to make a light.

Anyway, I got much closer to the color I want now for my Case.

I'm with you. I'll stick with my 2-3 LED fans. Zalmans are bright suckers!

Subin, Kinda thinking of getting Cc's for my case, my thunderblades are bright but not too bright :(

you can but you'll get a dimmed result, (I've tried this,) and you end up with cutting power to both units out of a single port from the inverter.

MORE LIGHTS!!!!
