I was looking over a couple sites and noticed these things, never really payed much attention to them, but i've been wanting some lights in my computer as of late.

One of the questions I have is.. Are they even very bright? I want my computer to light up when its dark, and I usually have a quite dark room most of the time.. I wanna be actually able to notice them, rather than just a slight glow. :rolleyes: I pretty much want people to notice when they walk into the room, that it's all glowy and stuff.
 
I have a dual 12" kit. Blue bulbs, and they're BRIGHT. These two bulbs will light up a room pretty decently, not to mention a computer case. That being said, the kit is for sale, as i bought the wrong color (blue instead of UV). I'll add it to my for sale thread, or you can pm me if you want it. $10 shipped.

- Cathodes are bright.
- LED's are bright but need to be clustered to get the brightness of a cathode. They rarely have a large viewing angle which makes them a pain if you are trying to light a large space.
- EL cable is a joke and can't be seen (lit) in daylight, only at night will you see a dim glow.
- EL sheet is great but needs to be a bit brighter to be useful. It's also hugely expensive in large sheets. This is a tragedy because it has a lot of potential in modding.
 
I have a single blue cathode and it's definitely bright; people do notice the glowy computer and they say... well, nevermind. i like it though.
 
Yes, either they love it or they hate it haha. I've got a light purple cathode, a 12 incher... and it lights up my entire room throuhg my case window. I couldn't imagine running BOTH of them :);
