I was wondering if you could run a CCFL with out the inverter? and is it safe? I lost mine and i am to cheap to order one online :p

Absolutely not. The inverter takes a 12 volt DC signal and and "inverts" it to a high voltage (1100-1500 volts) low amperage (~2 milliamps) AC signal. Not reccomended or safe to even try.

Furthermore, mixing and matching one manufacturer's inverter for another is not a good idea either. They do not all have the same output characteristics. If you know the specs on the old one, you can probably find a similar enough one somewhere, your best bet however is to just buy a whole new kit. They are only like 12 bucks for a dual cathode kit.

Don't fry yourself or your PSU trying to save money

Hehe thanks for the info. I was going to test it out on a cheapo spare PSU i have laying around :D but now i don't feel like getting zapped.
