A few weeks ago, I bought a dual cold cathode. It was fine up until yesterday when it started to act up. It would get darker and brighter, sort of like it's flashing. This causes static from the speakers. I have an PCP&P 510 Deluxe and using ASUS Probe, all rails are stable. I don't have any lockups. Today, I started smelling something being burnt. These are the SVC brand and it was bought before the thread about them. It seems like they are bad quality after all.

OK, I found out what causes the fluctuations. It turned out that the wiring at the bottom of the cathode was burnt. It's completely black and has burnt through the heatshrink. This probably causes a bad connection making it fluctuate in intensity. Now, is this the fault of SVC or is it my fault? Will I be able to RMA it to SVC?

Well, it's likely your fault. But you could try to RMA it anyway and just say it was faulty. Pretend you don't know what's wrong with it.

Oh, no, not another one...here's some helpful information for everybody that has a computer: try to steer AWAY from the SVC light...AWAY from it...away.......... ;) and you shall be saved!

Just a suggestion, but use Performance PC's for your next order. You won't be dissapointed. Never got anything from them that was DOA and they respond to questions quickly. They will even do any custom work you ask of them.

Yeah, I bought it in December before the thread though. I have contacted them and the guy seems nice. He says he'll try to get them to send me a replacement one. We'll see how it goes before I decide whether I will buy from them again. Anyway, I've had quite good experiences with SVC so far.

Yeah, after all the commotion that happened with SVC and some other people, you'll be gettin' that replacement...but it's probably still gonna be broken! ;)
