I should have thought to turn it off, but it's one of those things that I usually just leave on unless I have a tripod. It was -18f when I started shooting some pictures and I don't think the IS motors liked it very much. Normally it has this silky whine to it, now it sounds kinda like a 56k modem - but not as loud. Something is definitely off though as I notice that the image isn't being stabilized - so I just keep it off now, but I really do like the feature.

Do I have to wait until I get home to get it serviced, or is there any sort of thing I can do to help? I'm pretty annoyed at myself, but what can you do. It's a Rebel XSi and the 55-250 IS lens in question here. Let me know if any more information is necessary.
