This thing is massive. Was going to go with one of the many water coolers on sale but I couldn't pass this up for $20. I read some reviews saying with some decent fans it is on par with some of the cheaper water coolers.

I bent the fins to prevent it from touching the ram but the damn ram heatsinks are so tall on this Corsair Vengeance.

Even after bending the fins still touch the top of the heatsink and ever so slightly push the ram toward the stick next to it. Can I expect the ram to function and last like this long term?
 
Fortunately, you only damaged the heatspreader. Assuming that was all that you did, it won't affect the RAM's performance. (Then again, you should check to ensure that the RAM stick isn't being bent within the slot.)

Now, why did you try to jam a large CPU cooler in with the tall heatspreaders of the Corsair Vengeance RAM? We constantly discourage people from even thinking about making that mistake.
 
Several months ago, my system suddenly rebooted when I touched one of the DIMMs, so I assumed that the contacts were really sensitive, but after cleaning the DIMM sockets the computer ran fine, no matter how much I wiggled the DIMMs. IOW I wouldn't worry about the heatsink pressing slightly against the RAM affecting the performance. OTOH if the heatsinks are attached with double stick tape instead of with a mechanical clip, I might worry about the pressure eventually making a heatsink fall off and short something.
 
I bent the CPU cooler not the ram heat spreader.

You might see some further damage to the CPU heatsink but I can't really speculate without seeing the extent of the damage myself.

That said, you might want to start looking at some low-profile RAM.
