COD4 Install Issues

I'm getting the following error when attempt to install the cod4 retail disc:

---------------------------

Error 1305.Error reading from file: *:\Setup\Data\main\iw_00.iwd. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it. Retry or Cancel?

---------------------------

It looks like there has been a similar issue posted in this forum. The Install will sit at the file is_00.iwd for about 10 minutes until it will prompt with that error message. I noticed the activity in the DVD drive until it got to that file. Then ceased to work. When browsing through the cd it takes several moments to show the content of the folders with time between clicking on folders. I have not yet tried to exchange the cd in fear of the same issue.

OS: Windows XP SP2
Processor: AMD Athlon 3400+
Memory: 1G
DVD Drive: Sony DRU-170C DVD+RW/+R/RAM

Another similar issue: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1031630710

You'll likely have the same problem with an exchanged verison - I did. Its weird though that it appears the disc works in my brother's laptop DVD drive. Both DVD drives (internal and an external one) on my desktop would not read that file.

$50 well spent, since you won't be able to exchange it or get a refund on most if not all store policies. Were you able to come to a resolution to get it to install? Funny thing is i have researched this for a while and it seems to be a issue with a lot of people. Bad batch of discs?
