This is only the second time I have been able to get to the control room in time after MANY attempts but just as the first time I scramble to find WHERE to do it!

I assume it is an "F" function on some computer or something but I can't see it.

I paused it with 15 seconds left to ask this question....
 
There is a computer console waiting for the codes. Near the centre of the room.
 
Go up the center aisle, bout half way, turn around, look down and to the left.

It's a glowing keyboard, and I missed the hell out it the first time as well
 
I just finished this game last week, so amazing, I'm going to play it through again on hardened.

And yeah, glowing screen, also your compass will give you pretty good directions on where it is, just follow that.
