CoD4 for PS3 or 360?

DragonMasterAlex should be renamed X360MasterAlex.

You are the biggest biased person on these forums. I used to think technoob was, but he ain't so bad no more :) You on the other hand... seriously :(

DiRT had 'improved FPS' on the PS3. Google harder my friend. Dev's arn't going to remodel the whole game to port it to the PS3. So yea, its going to look the same, but it 'performs' better on the PS3. As well as Oblivion.

Really though, it has to do with how much time dev's put into their game and optimizing it for which ever system. DMA, you sir lose.

LOL, I'm not remotely biased, and *certainly* not in favor of Xbox 360, which has died on me 4 times and has put me through the ringer with the worst support *ever*. I've tried both versions of Dirt, and I found them to be all but indistinguishable. And again, yes, Oblivion performed a bit better, but after 9 extra MONTHS of development, which is nothing to sneeze at.

Nobody "loses" on a ridiculous forum such as this one, what a silly commentary to make, LOL.

dirt and oblivion are it though.

If you trust gamedaily, add COD4 to that list.

Devs NEED to remodel it to play well on PS3, and most don't.

I think that's a problem with many 1st generation multi platform titles from the last year. Porting straight X360 code to PS3 is challenging. With many games, the PS3 wasn't given any consideration until after the X360 version was long finished. But developers are already adapting. When the software is written for each console in parallel, they don't need to remodel anything.

I'll wait and see: IW said they were pretty much identical all around, which is good. I'm getting it on 360 for the controller (the one thing I HATE about the Ps3 is that controller), since I've played the other 2 on there.

Agreed: but many still aren't doing that, as it's not cost effective always.

Amen to that! He has gotta be THE biggest Sony hater I've seen on any forum.....anywhere. Dunno what they did to him? Rip his asshole in 2? Must have been bad.........

You are so full of shit it's not even funny. I have no particularly zealous enmity toward Sony *per se*; in fact, I have far more toward Microsoft, who's shoddily built product has died on me 4 times and whose "customer service" joke jerked me around for 6 MONTHS before I got any results out of them. Unfortunately for you, your own desire to kiss Sony's ass blinds you to anyone who's willing to call it like it is and lay the blame for a system's problems where it belongs. 360's shitty hardware has SOLELY Microsoft to blame, and PS3's mediocre performance and massive lag in the marketplace has SOLELY Sony to blame. You can pretend otherwise all you want, but that's the fact.

Who chose to make PS3 far too expensive for the mass market? Sony. Who chose to force an untested, non-industry standard media format down consumer throats right in the middle of a format war? Sony. Who did a shitty job of providing developers with tools and documentation on how best to utilize the hardware? Sony. Who went with NON-Standard, overpriced technologies in order to push their own agenda *in spite of* what the industry wanted? Sony. Who came to the party a year late because they couldn't get their shit together? Sony (and Nintendo for that matter, though clearly they had the superior business plan and have more than made up for their tardiness, at least in the marketplace, though not quite with the games just yet).

In the same vein, who chose to rush an untested product to market before it was ready? Microsoft. Who built their product with the cheapest possible components with the cheapest possible manufacturing? Microsoft. Who chose to have absurdly overprice peripherals ($100 Wifi, WTF)? Microsoft. Who jacked up the prices of games, paving the way for Sony to do the same? Microsoft.

There is plenty of blame to go around, and every company deserves their fair share. That I'm willing to dole it out UNILATERALLY doesn't make me biased, it makes me *objective*, at least to the extent that one can be.

You and people like you are the biased fraudsters here, following the corporate bell of (insert your favorite corp here) an entity that doesn't give two shits about you beyond how much they can pry from your wallet. Sony doesn't care about you, any more than Microsoft or Nintendo cares about the rest of us. Anyone who believes otherwise is simply a slave to marketing and brand names, and that's just SAD.

Stop it already. Sheesh.

console war and other nonsense aside, nice to see DMA back peddle as fast as possible

If we're going to mention games that look/feel better on the PS3 - the easy answer is also VF5. Granted the 360 version is online, which outweighs the visuals...however the game looks significantly better on the PS3. Just needed to make that point.
With all that said it's one of what, 2-3 games? Right now devs are putting more effort into the 360 and it shows.

LOL, On *WHAT*? I'm in the exact position I've ALWAYS been in. I have never, at ANY point, been a fanboy of ANY corporation.

Keep dreaming, though, it's cute.

Quote from the IGN review...

Virtua Fighter 5 comes to 360 with a variety of updates from the PS3 version. Already a fine-looking game on PS3, VF5 looks even better on 360. On Microsoft's monster machine, you get clean lines, excellent lighting, and some great environmental effects (such as mist rolling through the arena).

Looks better on the 360 to me too...

You get the mist effects on PS3 too. But all of the comparisons I've seen, say VF5 looks better on X360.

Well, unless the demo's totally different from the full game, the PS3 version looks better on my TV. I'm on a 1080p DLP using VGA inputs. To me the 360 version looks darker and when I crank up the brightness, it looks really flat. The PS3's lighting is better.

It could be your TV or A/V settings. I run my Elite via HDMI - to me it gives much better colors compared to Component or VGA.

well thought out post there! Although admittedly I did chuckle a little at it is simplicity and blatant flame bait potential.

and the thought that such a large, black box could emerge from one's anus.

My world is coming to an end, if I can't trust fanboys, biased reviewers, subjective comparisons, and corporate propaganda for reliable information who can I trust?

/The entire post is in jest...
//Can't we all just game along?

Of course I can fan the flames too...

1Up gave the PS3 Version 9.3 and the XBOX360 Version 9.2, that proves that the PS3 version is 1% better than the XBOX360 version.

Shhhh!!! Don't tell all the other Sony fanboys I own a Wii and 2 DS's......christ get over yourself

Most of us buy the console that has the games we want to play. Strange concept this freedom of thought for you, I know. All early adopters pay the price, well known fact so get over it, don't wanna pay the going rate then wait. There may be the odd game that won't be released for said machine but you pays your money you takes your chances. Not very hard to undertsand is it?

Ppl will pay what it takes to get what they want, all you have to do is look at the latest high end video cards on early release. Do ppl need the extra features on these? No. Do they need the extra power? No. But adding these features that nothing else has advances the industry.

Your the fuckin fool that has had 4 360's. I'd have stopped after the first died on me. Hell I won't spend a penny on the dodgy POS (I've come VERY VERY close on a few occassions but the failiure rate is totally unacceptable in my eyes and I ain't laying down that much money knowing it's gonna day in the next year). If you think ppl actually believe multi-national companies care about individuals shows how far up your own arse you are. You continuously bang the same fuckin beat from the same god damn drum and it gets boring........

It's foolish that they sent me 3 replacement 360's? How is that foolish? Oh wait--it's not. It's foolish--on Microsoft's part--that they took 6 MONTHS to solve the problem, and by then I was so pissed that I just SOLD the thing because I didn't want to deal with it anymore, but it's in no way foolish to have bought a 360 and expected it to be repaired every time it broke.

And YES, based on the absurd fanboy reaction of quite a few posters, I DO think that some people believe that these corps give a shit about them or even GAMING ITSELF. Why else devote loyalty to these fucktard suits?

Unlike some people, I'm *consistent* in what I say, you don't like it, that's just tough. And by the way, congrats on officially contributing the most useless post to the entire thread. The only thing more sad is that I took the 3 minutes to RESPOND to your retarded rant.

Honestly people, just flip a coin and enjoy the game. Life's too short for all this squabblin' over nothing...

DMA, i was going to leave it alone but......

I'm calling bullshit on your claim of your PS3 throwing gfx as good or better than your 360.
PS3 Vs 360 COD4. They're all but indistinguishable.

I'm sure that's a possibility, but can you name them if so? Just did a quick google about, and haven't found a single one.
I do know that Oblivion looked better

yes, consistent as always.
:p

How little it matters? Litter difference here and there won't make ps3 owners enjoy the game more than 360 owners. Most of us only have either ps3 or 360 (excluding the ppl do not own either), so the options are

1. Buy the game and enjoy it.

2. Not buy the game because the game looks better on the 'opposite' console

Competition between companies only benefits consumers, without the 360 and the Wii there won't be 399 ps3 this soon.

Enjoy the console war, flame the system you own, so that company will work harder to satisfy you ;)

P.S. Although hearing PS3 version ( I own a PS3, but not 360 ) looks better really encouraging me to picking the PS3 version up... from not getting it at all.

DMA, i was going to leave it alone but......

yes, consistent as always.
:p

How is that inconsistent? On the whole, the 360 versions of most games look and/or play slightly better. Note "Slightly". Further note the CoD4 as being close to indistinguishable, indicating pretty clearly that neither platform evidences a significant advantage. Problem? On the second bit, I thought it was pretty clear I had none in mind off the top of my head and a "quick google" didn't reveal any. Reminded of Oblivion, I acknowledged it, yes? Yes, yes I did.

Yes, CONSISTENT. Do I remember every game ever released at all times? Obviously not. Do you?

Looks pretty even across the board mate.
Just pick whatever system you use less since it will make your purchase more worthwhile for the lesser used system:p haha

The X360 does have a slightly better FPS controller but the PS3 is fine once you have used it for awhile, and we have all used the the PS3 (Same as PS2) controller for a long time :p

The sixaxis has some significant differences from the DualShock II.

You mean EA games? Those are about the only games that play better on the X360 than PS3. You wanna know why? Because EA shoots to release their games on multiple platforms at the same time. They don't take the extra time to work things out, that’s why you get crappy ports. It has nothing to do with the platform itself, it has to do with a rushed product. When dev's get more familiar and have had as much time to work on the PS3 as the X360, I'm sure the amount of crappy ports will go down a lot. Specially if they get used to programming for the PS3 first (since it’s harder) and then port it to the X360. Only time will tell.

Maybe you'll understand better if I put it a different way. Have you ever downloaded a Beta for the PC and it runs like shit, even though you have a top of the line comp. Yet ... when it’s released it runs 20X better. That’s because bugs have been worked out and code has been optimized.
.

But it's still the same size and the sticks are still in the same place. It blows my mind that millions of people play with the goddamned dual shock. Most uncomfortable controller ever designed, IMO.

By the way, COD4 is looking damn good on my elite. Fun as hell, too. "Death From Above" could be one of the funnest "rail shooter" levels ever made.

See, I feel that way about the sixaxis. I can't use it for more that 30 minutes at a time.

It's funny that you even try to convince yourself that you aren't a sony hater, or a wii f@nboy. Truly the epitome of what a fanboy is. Congratulations.

I do think that COD4 finally somewhat proves that the PS3 is capable of at LEAST the same graphical prowess and performance as the 360, when developers actually try to make it run right instead of half ass porting the game to the PS3.

I only have a 360, so I'll probably get COD4 for 360.

...well maybe not all these mature arguments and pissing contests might just sway me to get the PS3 version. I won't be able to play it but I'll know that I have the superior version!

I just don't understand why people get caught up in these arguments. Just get what looks good to you and enjoy it.

Kahnvex said it best: "If you need me, I'll be playing COD4" (or something similar).

My question is this: If I've never played a COD game before should I play some of the previous ones or just jump in to COD4? 'Course the CC deal sounds good....

Just buy COD4. Its modern combat. All of the other versions were WW2 based. ANd personally im completely over WW2 games.

im curious if anybody has noticed the complete lack of textures in the grass on the x360 version of this game?

I own both a 360 and ps3, and found that I, personally, like the 360 controller better so I bought that version. Is there a noticeable difference in textures from anybody that has seen both versions of the game? enough to go return my copy and buy a ps3 copy?

I've gotten used to the Dualshock design for FPS games but I still like the 360 controller more for them (on the rare occasion I buy an FPS for a console).

This game totally kicks ass. I'm not totally blind to the fact that it's more of the same, but in a modern setting. But if you like Call of Duty games, you'll love this.

I love it, and I totally love what they've done with the MP. I got the game at 2pm from circuit, logged on, and sombody was already a level 28.

That dude had the audacity to claim he hadn't been playing "for that long", yeah, just like all day from the time gamestop opened probably. I only got to play it for about 2 hours total yesterday, but I can't wait till my buddies buy it this weekend.

It doesn't matter what system you play it on, it's a good freakin' game.

And No, I haven't noticed the grass thing, but I'll look next time I play it.

Gamespy:
Anyone looking to pick holes in either version will be promptly stumped; this is truly the best example of how one game can look, play and sound identically on two different console platforms.

Gamespot:
The differences between the two console versions feel mostly negligible. Both systems deliver good frame rates and have good, easy-to-use multiplayer setups...Despite listing 1080p support on the back of the box, COD 4 appears to prefer 720p on the PlayStation 3. The only way to get it to run in 1080p is to tell your PS3 that your TV doesn't support 720p or 1080i, but the difference seems minor. Either way, you'd be hard-pressed to tell it apart from its Xbox 360 counterpart.

After reading a few reviews it sounds to me like the versions are virtually identical. I'll be picking this game up after I grab an Xbox 360 for Christmas. It looks awesome.
