CoD4 for PS3 or 360?

Does anyone know which one is better? I know they both upscale to 1080p but I've heard rumors that the PS3 version's texture's and lighting are slightly better, so can anyone confirm this.
I prefer the 360's controller over the PS3's for fps but I'm a graphics whore and I've got to pickup my prebook sometime this afternoon.

i highly doubt in the middle of a battle scene you will care about the detail on a tire. what i am saying is in the end the difference is going to be so minimal it wont matter.

in the end you will end up with a flame war in here.

so can anyone confirm this.

Still, as strong as Call of Duty 4 is shaping up to be in the gameplay department, the most immediately impressive aspect is by far its graphics. The PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions all look surprisingly similar, but that's not due to one platform being the lead; Infinity Ward personally assured us that development occurred simultaneously on all three platforms, and that there wasn't a base system. With that said, the console similarities end when it comes to textures, lighting and resolutions, because those three areas make the PlayStation 3 version definitely excel over the Xbox 360 SKU. Regardless, every console owner will proudly use Call of Duty 4 to showcase their high-definition TV, because COD4 is by far the best-looking console game you will see this year.

I didn't like the PC demo, but I may reconsider buying the game if the PS3 version gets high reviews.

Same level of AA between 360/PS3, both @ 60fps.

Hate on the PS3 all you want guys, but we've done did it up right for the Sony lovers. Nothing has been 360 footage yet touted as PS3, you crack-heads! I'm not sure whats up with what you guys might have seen at E3, but we do have AA on the PS3.

As for the low res on those shots - I have no idea why these are so low. The full 720p versions have been available for a few days now.

Finally, the beta doesn't have a start date yet - just keep an eye on www.charlieoscardelta.com

Wow, I didn't think some random post on NeoGAF would make its way around the internet.

Glad you guys are hyped for the game, and we are doing everything in our power to make it as awesome as possible on the PS3. We wouldn't commit to a platform if we couldn't do it right. Our motto is "Committed to Excellence", and we mean it.

As for the crack-head comment, I frequent the NeoGAF boards and it was more of a general laid back post - wasn't meant as some official means of communication or an announcement. I was just putting to rest some misinformation and blind hating

Personally I'd wait for reviews, but then I don't really understand why you would pre-order anyway... it's hardly going to sell out.

Yeah it is. The frame rate would be laughably bad if it was native 1080p.

We'll see. I've read that it's going to be 1080p. As far as frame rates....i think the PS3 can handle it. I have both, xbox360 and PS3 and my PS3 throws out graphics as good or better than my xb360.

Either way, my choice would anyways be "neither". PC FPS for the win.

I believe it's confirmed both versions are 720p 60fps. Although apparently the PS3 got some extra love.

Based on every cross platform game released to date unilaterally looking better on 360, I'm calling bullshit on your claim of your PS3 throwing gfx as good or better than your 360.

That said, we do agree on one thing: PC FPS for the Win. PS3 and 360 are BOTH jokes compared to the power of a good PC.

At 60FPS? There are like 4 games in the PS3 library that DON'T have framerate issues even at 720, let alone a new shooter at 1080p. Like it's been mentioned, I'm sure it supports it, but not natively. And duh, PC version for me too, but I know a few people that only have consoles.

Also those posts by the alleged Dev are fairly old, before the 360 beta. I'm asking people that are playing the 360 version right now if there is any AA and if it's 60fps.

Here's another vote for the PC one, but only if you have the hardware to push it. 99% of the PC's on the market would be humbled by the 360 and PS3's 720p at 60 fps. If you have a DX10 card and a Core 2 - sure your PC's going to play the game well. If you're not, I bet it's a different story.
If you have a killer PC - that's ALWAYS the way to go with a multi-platform FPS. It's $10 cheaper, too.
If not, in this case it sounds like the PS3 has a better version. However the 360's pad is 10X better for shooters, so take that into account.

I would wait for reviews yo.

You never really know with this cross-platforms which one is going to be better...at least not right now. History tells us probably the X360 but then again maybe not a lot of time was spent on previous games ports to PS3, so maybe that has changed...who knows.

Is that upscaled or native ? I read there is a built in upscaler in CoD4 software. But this journalist seems pretty adamant the PS3 version looks better.

I think there are a few games that look/play better on the ps3, i agree that most play betteron the 360 but not ALL

I'm sure that's a possibility, but can you name them if so? Just did a quick google about, and haven't found a single one.

that means absolutely nothing. All it shows is that the console is outputting at 1080p, and the TV is accepting that 1080p signal. What happens inside that 1080p could be anything from an upscaled 480, to full 1080, no way to tell without looking at individual pixels on the display.
Yeah, it's just like all the 360 games having 1080p on the boxes now... doesn't really mean a thing.

Well because I don't own a PS3 yet, and my PC is a throwback to the days of yore in 2004, I think I have my answer.

That said, even if I did own a PS3 and the graphics exceled over the 360's version, I would rather be beaten about the head and shoulders with a Dualshock than play an FPS with one.

dirt and oblivion.
they darkness was a wash depending on who you ask.

Mmm, I've played both versions of Dirt and I wouldn't say it looked any better at all, actually. However, I do know that Oblivion looked better, but then again, it had what, an extra 9 MONTHS of development time? :).

DragonMasterAlex should be renamed X360MasterAlex.

You are the biggest biased person on these forums. I used to think technoob was, but he ain't so bad no more :) You on the other hand... seriously :(

DiRT had 'improved FPS' on the PS3. Google harder my friend. Dev's arn't going to remodel the whole game to port it to the PS3. So yea, its going to look the same, but it 'performs' better on the PS3. As well as Oblivion.

Really though, it has to do with how much time dev's put into their game and optimizing it for which ever system. DMA, you sir lose.

dirt and oblivion are it though. COD3 looked better on 360, and Darkness played better on 360.

Devs NEED to remodel it to play well on PS3, and most don't. Those that do, like oblivion and DiRT, work great. but many don't.

Amen to that! He has gotta be THE biggest Sony hater I've seen on any forum.....anywhere. Dunno what they did to him? Rip his asshole in 2? Must have been bad.........

That may be true of DMA, but Baker, you have to admit, you are one of Sony's bigger supporters on this forum also (that is not to say that there aren't more flaggrant Sony fanboys on here).

xbox360 verision: xbl, achievements, and controller.

I am sure both version will look nearly identical. Although, I predicted the xbox360 will have the slight advantage judging from previously released multiplatform titles.

I just went and picked it up for 360 at Circuit City.. deptford NJ.. it rang up for for 32.99 when cod3 was added to it, being a fool though I told the lady that cod4 was still full price.. and she seperated the transaction.. shame on me.. but anyway if it's like that in all their systems good luck if you can get it for 32 dollars. Still a good deal to get cod3 free..
BTW anyone looking to buy cod3? lol Gotta sell this on ebay.
