First off, I have to say, I have had no problems with crashing. This game was made really good. However, I have had my fair share with video lag. Upon installing the game, I changed the settings to mid -to- high range settings, using DX9, 1680X1050 with my Dell 2005fpw, AA to 4x, and everything else set to high. I ran the game, and was getting around 15-20fps. I was pissed at this. I asked others in the game what they were getting, and one dude said 100fps, but he had the game forced to DX7, I did it, and my fps were 90-100. This is with everything turned on max. Still looks good, but I am missing out on textures, smoke, dust, and many other things. Why would they release a game that SLI 7800GTX'S can barely handle? What are your thoughts, comments on this game? Also, do you know any ideas to help with video settings?

The part where you said "why would they design a game that 2 7800 GTX's cant even handle" is stupid question to ask. As special effects in the game are getting more advance, or more realistic, it takes a toll on the video card, ram and processor. Also, physics are becoming pretty popular in today games, and that takes a good amount of processing power to handle them. Probably one of the main reasons for AGEIA physics card they are developing. F.E.A.R is also a very demanding game, where top of the line hardware these days, barely handle it also. Games are advancing faster than the video cards these days. I dont know whats with people on this forum where they are to stubborn to turn down the resolution, or some other graphical settings, like AA. I mean sure, you will lose some graphic detail out of it, but at least it is playable.

Agreed. Games have always pushed hardware to its limits. Before this it was FarCray, before that it was MechWarrior 4, before that... It's just a part of computer gaming. Eventually you'll upgrade and be able to play that game at higher settings. Personally, i think that's part of the fun of it, seeing how a game looks after an upgrade. Developers aren't going to stop making graphical improvements when they make their games, that wouldn't make any sense. The reason the have the lower settings in the first place is so that you can still play and enjoy the game with less of a chance of having to upgrade right away for it.

Doom 3 is also a good example. I dont think anyone was able to do Ultra when it first came out.

So true. We got lucky for a while when the HW was outpacing SW requirements. Many complained about what is the use of buying high end hardware if lowend could play just as well. (meaning mid range cards could play with eyecandy on and get good fps) Then D3 and HL2 came along and basically forced all of us to upgrade to get the full effect and have good fps. Now the SW side is pushing the HW. It sucks to not be able to have all the eye candy on, butwe just need to let the HW guys catch up.

yah you were :p just gets hitching here and there :p but teh fps were about teh same as high :p

If they made the game perfect for 2days most popular g card, it would propbably look how it does when u scale down some settings. Atleast u get to see what the game can look like, or what it will look like in the future when you eventually upgrade.

i bought the game, and no matter wut resolution i play it on, i still get between 30-40 FPS.. :(

go into it and have it forced to use DX7, it still looks great, and u can turn everything way up!

It is one thing if the game is made to push the limits on graphics, but if an X800 XT can barely pull 60 fps on 640x480 with no AA or AF, I think someone made a horribly wrong decision on the design of the graphics portion of the game, or optimized very poorly. If at all.

I think its fine at 30-40fps. I have a good balance between visuals (1280x1024 everything high 2xAA and 16xAF) and gameplay. :)

If I had SLI 7800's, I'd be pissed if I couldn't run ANYTHING maxed out at way more than 30 FPS constantly. That's just reality. IF I coudn't, I suppose blame would be hard to assign. If all users with the same hardware couldn't, then I'd be pissed at the driver, or game makers, more than the hardware makers. Dunno if that's rational or not, but that's my take.
