COD2 a port?

So is COD2 a console port? Is that why people are getting such low FPS with it or is it just really that demanding? Or, could it be just poorly coded?

dunno runs fine on my machine 81.87 drivers. certainly it's an extension of the earlier cod so if that was a console port then this is too. however, I like it better than fear.

I didn't say it didn't run fine, just wondering why it gets the lower FPS. I'm getting right around 50 - 60 FPS with everything maxed, 8XAA and 16X AF.

I'd say it's just a shitty engine. But yes, since it's multiplatform, that may be one of the reasons why it's not so optimized.

ran great on my 6800GT at 1600x1200, everything maxed
81.87 drivers

game runs well at max settings, not high fps, but its very smooth. I get about 25-50 fps max settings in single play and play the game in dx7 in mutliplay, it still looks good and runs at 100-200 fps.

strange, it seems pretty smooth on my 6600GT with all settings maxed

what is smooth to one person, may not be smooth to another person.

and the cod2 engine looks like its really shitty

My 6600GT runs it with everything maxed, and 2xAA, 4xAF, 1024x768x32. Judging by eye, I am running between 40 and 60 with occaisional drops below 35.

It definitely doesn't feel like a crappy port.

Infinity Ward, in an interview I saw, said that two teams were working on the two
different versions side by side, but keeping each one optimized for the platform.

So, that's probably why it doesn't feel like a crappy port...because it's not.

My modest system, which is about to be overhauled in a few weeks, plays
the game with decent settings (1024x768; 4x AA, vsync on, didn't really pay much
attention to the other settings) at around 30+/- FPS. Which is fine for me.

It's silly to think that 60+ FPS makes that big of a difference. All I know is the game
looks really good and I can play it at a playable framerate on my Athlon XP2500+,
512MB "value" ram and a 6800LE unlocked to 12x1, 6vp.

when u've played at 60+fps constantly and have been spoiled by it, you will know why having such high fps is soo important

enable dx7 mode and wala... uber ass fuckin fps :tards:

then why are u a computer enthusiast? so you can get the highest score in a benchmark? if you spend this much on a computer shouldn't it be ok to demand nice fps? don't be a tard for flaming people if you don't understand their reasoning.

also so we all paid $50 so we can play a game that runs on direct7? why don't we just go back to playing COD1 then?

also FEAR makes many systems bog down, but FEAR looks alot prettier than COD2. Honestly, if you wanna make a game run crappy on higher end systems, at least make it look pretty

I agree. FEAR looked better and ran better. I wasnt going to buy COD2 until it came out on the 360 for that reason alone. I broke down though, and I am glad I did. A sweet spot can be found, it just takes a little tweaking (without having to turn on dx7).

Game runs fine on my 6800GT at 1280 with everything maxed with DX9 enabled. It lags just under 30 fps under the most intensive of scenes.

I'm more annoyed by having to do some levels over and over because events somehow aren't triggered. I had to do el almein over 6 times because the radio room at the end wasn't useable and dumb ass Price was just crouching next to the building.

This game has amazing graphics as far as I'm concerned. I'm spoiled with being able to run all games pretty much in the 100 FPS range, 1280 X 1024 with all settings on max. This game I can run at 1280 X 1024, all settings max and I'd say I average probably about 50 FPS. This game as far as I can tell just isn't optimized well. I'm sure we will see performance increases in the next few patches, that along with driver optimizations.

I doubt it. Its performed badly since the demo, and hasnt improved much (with one driver update already).

Runs awesome here, 1280x1024 Looks amaizing, best graphics ever.
