Well I've started back playing the multiplayer of cod 5 and Im getting as low as 40 fps?...

I've included pictures of my settings and pictures of the events it's really anytime that the action starts happening.. it dips straight down to 50 - 40. I've set all textures to low and the problem is still there. I can create my own server and get around 100 fps looking around all the way across maps. It seems to happen only in online games. Also I've noticed that during my online games my gpu usage sinks to 50 - 65%. Yet when Im in a server I've created it goes up to 98 - 100%.

My settings are Res. 1600 x 900

0AA
0AF

My Specs are an E6850 OCed to 3.7 GTX 285 OCed

i would try running it with max settings first (it's what your card was meant to do anyway)
then changing nVidia drivers
then while you're ingame Alt-Tab out and check something like GPU-Z and see if your clocks are messed up or anything looks sketchy.

maybe your card is throttling down since in a MP game it would process more instead of just you in an empty server, therefore drawing more power from the CPU which also leads to a possible PSU problem

it could also be that hes being cpu limited with an e6850 and GTX 285.. even if the cpu's overclocked.. when playing online your going to see a lot more cpu load then in an empty server as well..

but like suprfire said.. try maxing out the gfx completely.. turn the AA on as well if the frame rate stays the same.. around 40fps even maxed out then you are most likely being cpu limited on that card since your running such a low resolution..

I'm not that familiar with CoD: WaW but generally, FPS drops in multiplayer are due to CPU limitations. Do make sure that you test your PSU and GPU limitations out just to make sure. Unfortunately, a 3.7GHz E6850 is still a pretty ballsy CPU; are you playing on large servers with many players?

I turned on AA x2 - 4 and it started staying stable at 60- 40 with large players. I'm thinking of getting a new Core as mine is rather on the old side :c but hey atleast it's not dropping like crazy anymore :) Thanks for the help guys!
