CoD: Black Ops

Umm, lol. I seriously doubt the console version can play at 1920*1080 or greater with maxed out graphic settings at 60+ fps ;).

This. I love my comp and it should hopefully run it at max. Looking forward to some 1080p zombies :D

Well when I played MW2 (I'm still pissed I spent $60 on it), which this isn't much different in the graphics department, I had a 8800GT and was able to play the game maxed out with 50-60 fps constantly. This shouldn't be that much different :)

I also rented a Chicago server and wouldn't mind some east coast [H] action, as long as posting info is cool. Going to be looking for some experienced admins for sure. No silly clan tags required :p

General rules, blatant hackers will be banned. Questionable players will need input from other admins. Music\voice\text spammers will be muted or banned after warning. Excessive annoyance\racism will receive warning, then ban.

I have experience running tf2 and cs servers, haven't had GS as a host though.

With this game being $60. I would recommend folks to wait a week or two before buying. Hopeful that it will be as good as COD4 but.....

It's a gamble, but I have a good feeling this time. Haha

The only zombie mod I know of for mw2 could also get you a vac ban.

See i still find this strange, is the 8800GT a 512mb card yes? When running MW2 maxed out (1920×1200 + extra textures) it uses 900mb+ of vram. Which is the reason why i couldn't run it maxed out on my 4870.

I'll be picking this one up. I hope the dedi's actually make a difference!

The time tested method of setting up multiplayer games will make a difference. Because it's time tested. I mean, only an idiot would want to try something as stupid as P2P for a AAA PC title. I mean seriously, who's that stupid?

There is a Zombie Mod for MW2?

Not officially. In fact I doubt there is even a hacked zombie mod for MW2. I doubt anyone in the mod community would have cared enough given how crippled the game was in terms of mods.

I have the same video card and was able to play MW2 almost maxed out with 50-60 fps...

Im thinking about renting a server. Looks like 18 person is the max for ranked servers, but you can also get 24 unranked, whats up with that?

Any Seattle (or West Coast) people have any interest in a [H] West Coast server?

Ranked allows you to gain XP and CoD Bucks. They're limited to playlists and besides picking maps and game modes you won't have much in the way of settings.

You don't gain XP/Money in unranked, but it's infinitely more customizable.

Am I the only person who's fine with 18 players max? In CoD 4 I only played in 16 player servers. The maps simply weren't made for 32+ simultaneous players.

Broadcast and Crossfire were awesome with 32 players.

I also prefer less players when it comes to CoD; I did mostly 12 player matches in CoD4.

same here. COD4 became too congested with more than 18 players IMO. i like 64+ players in BF2 and BF2142....but that's because the maps are enormous and you're achieving roughly the same population density.

100% have the same opinion.

But what he's saying is the assets and effects are unchanged from the XBox 360 version. Same blurry textures and all.

Yup. Those are the kinds of details that make $60 for this start looking dubious although it's still on better footing out of the gate than MW2 ever was IMO.

This might not mean anything but... compare the minimum system requirements of MW2 and BO.

Yeah BFBC2 is much cleaner in DX11 than DX10. You can see enemies better for sure.

DX9 though, can see people a mile off, nice and clear. A DX11 FPS i haven't played yet but i would assume the post processing that gets involved would make it harder no?

Wake me up when there's a CoD in DX11... :p That'd be good.

I can guarantee with almost 100% certainty that this will not happen until new consoles are released. And at this rate, it's going to be 3-6 years before we see new machines.

Agreed. I was amazed (or mortified depending on how you look at it) on how close the XBox 360 and PC versions were, save resolution. Sad.

I'm a spammer and run & gunner in COD4. I loved the 48 player servers. 24 seems a little too low for me :p

Nope. It is clearer. Shadows are MUCH better too. Just takes more horsepower to run it well.

Of course, some of those maps...The sand and snow just F it all up. Panama and the other clear maps you can see all the way across.

And unfortunately..This.

Yup, until the lowest common denominator gets raised with some new console hardware it is what it is, folks. Unfortunately.
