We've all known it for awhile, but it's finally confirmed!

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Sept 29, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ -- Taking the wraps off one of the most anticipated features and worst kept secrets, Treyarch revealed today that the community-favorite "Zombies" is coming to Call of Duty(R): Black Ops which hits stores worldwide on November 9th, by Activision Publishing, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI). Zombies were originally introduced in Call of Duty(R): World at War and became an instant hit. Call of Duty: Black Ops fans can combat the zombie apocalypse in up to four-player co-op gameplay.

"Zombies have been such a hit with our community that we were committed to bringing brand new zombie experiences to Call of Duty: Black Ops," says Treyarch Studio Head, Mark Lamia. "We've taken extra special care to retain the essential ingredients of our Zombie game, and have also crafted a nice surprise for the fans."

Today's news follows the announcement that four updated co-op maps from Call of Duty: World at War will be made available as part of the Call of Duty(R): Black Ops Prestige and Hardened Editions, along with the premium edition Steelbook(TM) Case, custom Black Ops limited edition medal and an exclusive Black Ops Avatar outfit.

Gamers can also experience an all new co-op game in Call of Duty: Black Ops Multiplayer with Combat Training. Up to six players can rank up in this dedicated and exclusive multiplayer mode battling against enemy AI.

Call of Duty: Black Ops will release worldwide on November 9th. Pre-orders for the title are available now. Call of Duty: Black Ops for the Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation(R) 3 computer entertainment system, Nintendo Wii(TM) and Windows(R) PC is rated "M" (Mature -- Blood, Drug Reference, Intense Violence and Language). Also scheduled for release is Call of Duty: Black Ops for the Nintendo DS(TM) family of hand-held systems, which is rated "T" (Teen) by the ESRB and in development by n-Space.

Additionally, fans who can't wait for the November 9th release of Call of Duty: Black Ops can hone their zombie combat skills on iPhone and iPod Touch starting tomorrow with the newest map release for Call of Duty: ZOMBIES, Der Riese ("Zombie Factory"), which is an adaptation of the popular downloadable content originally released for Call of Duty: World at War. Call of Duty: ZOMBIES is developed by Ideaworks Game Studio for the iPhone and iPod touch, based on Treyarch's console version, and now all four maps from the original game are available for $4.99 from the App Store at www.itunes.com/appstore/.

awesome... I'm so buying this game now. Nazi Zombies was pretty damn fun if you had friend to play it with on your system of choice. I'm sure this will be just as entertaining

Brains....
Kinda funny I never played through the SP to get the zombie mode in WAW but I heard it was fun as hell

I mentioned this news to a few of my clan memebers and it sealed the deal for them even more. Loved zombies from WaW.

It was madness.

This thing's loaded. Black Ops is going to be hot.

I bet you need to buy the more expensive version of the game to get the zombies mode, it better come with all (3) versions...

"Activision recently detailed two Call of Duty: Black Ops Collector’s Editions, a ‘Hardened Edition’s and the ‘Prestige Edition’, but it made no mention of zombies in its official listing. Activision has taken gaming bundles to whole new level with the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops Prestige Edition, which comes complete with a spy vehicle. Well, a miniature vehicle."

I believe you need to order either special edition to get the original classic Nazi zombie maps from WAW, but you'll get the new maps for zombie mode with any edition of the game

personally while i loved the zombies game i think they should just make it an XBLA standalone game.

i love it, its like tower defense first person style.

I read somewhere that they were planning on releasing a campaign co-op mode (like WaW) at a later date, but can't find the article anymore.

Anyone else heard of this?

Does the PC version come in 3 versions? I only see Standard for the PC and 3 versions for the Xbox.

I'm tempted to buy this game just for the zombies. I played a ton of CoD:MW, then bought WaW on release, played it quite a bit, but nowhere near as much as MW (6 months straight of CoD started to grate on my enjoyment), then I found the nazi zombies level... and I spent another 2 months playing strictly that :D.

Nice, i'm excited. I have WAW, and there is never a single zombie server in that game, so i've never tried it.

ugh.. more zombies.. yet another reason i wont be buying this game.. not sure how the hell you guys found the zombie map in WaW fun.. was the most boring shit ever.. hell it make L4D actually look fun which is hard to do..

What games are fun to you?

it's not part of the SP campaign...all you have to do is *not* click the "holy hell let's play zombies!" button on the main screen.

and L4D not fun? blasphemy :D

Left 4 Dead isn't fun. It's boring. However I am looking forward to the Zombie killing in Black Ops.

The zombie mode is fun when you play alone, or with friends, but not with strangers.

I had fun playing it with random people over the PSN for a while.

The most annoying part was when i'd get turds in my game who ran around and tried to take kills from other people instead of everyone taking a window at first. This always resulted in me or someone else in the game buying the staircase couch asap to end the game. Sometimes I bought the couch fast just for the lulz if I was playing with people who I knew were good, though, just to enhance the challenge.

I also hope they have more than 1 map that you can play on and that there doesn't end up being any 'glitch' spots or tactics that let people get to level 500+ because they can't die.

The original map did suck. However, if you had played the game for longer than the first week, you would have experienced the 3 others that they added, the last two of which were excellent.

I can understand someone not caring for anymore Zombies, but I can't figure out how it would keep anyone from buying the game.

No. This Zombie fad is worse than the fads in popular music (britney spears, backstreet boys, Nysync, Justin Bieber and so on).

Did you just compare zombies to Justin Bieber? I'll admit, the zombie card is getting a little tired, but more in the "anything apple makes is cool" sort of way, not in the brinty spears/justin way where they were crap pop from the very start!

I see the line you have drawn and I will agree.

How dare a developer add things like extra modes into their games?

Seriously, people who have a stick up their collective ass about a zombie mode really need to look at getting that stick removed. Why should everyone else go without a perfectly fine wave-based mode because you think zombies are being overdone?

Reasonably, they shouldn't. However, people who are passionate about a game can become annoyed when development time is constantly spent on portions they feel are extraneous while delivering an overall unfinished/buggy product.

Frankly, doesn't matter, I think the whole thing is a waste of development time. Although that's good, I don't want these guys working on a game I actually might like.
