x800xl, dfi nf4 ultra, 36gb raptor, 2x512 corsair 512m c2pt, 2x Cdrom's, 535 enermax PSU watercooled.
First off i see the DFI logo but its got blue lines all over the screen...weird. Then the black screen after that with all the info(do u wish to boot from cdrom) is fine-no lines. Once i stick in winxp pro CD(tried 2 legal, 1 illegal) all them dont get past the setup is checking your systems hardware config. Is it the video card?
 
I've seen a bad hard drive do that before, and coincidientally, it was an IBM 60GXP just like the one in your sig. It wouldn't run or install windows as long as the drive was plugged in at all. Try with just the Maxtor maybe.

 
first off my two HD's are Maxtor 80gb and a raptor 36gb, i tried unplugging each separately and neither worked. My 60gxp failed a long time ago...heh. Anyways is their anyway to setup the HD's. I have the SATA on the SATA1 channel(I dont think it had jumpers, and if it did I set it to primary) The maxtor is set to secondary w/ other drive on the IDE1 Channel. maybe this is causing issues.
 
tried to boot on my other computer with my Raptor, same thing, computer hangs right before the windows boot screen. I went into the RAID setup, deleted old raid, low level formatted it, still nothing. I think i got sold a busted HD.
 
ok lets not blame th HDD i sold you jsut yet, I know that drive worked great when It left, (im not saying it didnt get dammages in transit)


I have never had a HDD make screen curption at startup. can you try another video card?

Dose it make the lines with no HDD installed? Also try booting to the windows CD With no HDD installed, it should get you to a screen in windows setup after you push f8 to agree to the EULA that tells you there is no HDD dected, Can you get that far?

what windows boot screen are you talking about?

When you want to un-raid a HDD you need to deleate the partition then creat a new one then format it.

installing windows on a HDD then swaping it to another comptuer will only yield a sugesfull boot say? 1 in 5?
 
the Windows XP pro with the loading bar at the bottom(big black screen with windows logo). Anyways tried a different vid card, lines dissappear. Anyways...i fixed the hanging problem at the setup is inspecting your hardware. Now i get into loading windows and just as soon as I tell the computer to install windows on a new partition the computer crashes....everytime. This might be a memory issue (conflict or just bad ram-i dunno).

As far as the HD issue I pmed ya back. I did try your HD on my dads comp and it kept hanging the system before loading into windows. Basically just sat in a black screen.
 
My disk might be marked active or something, it sounds liek you dad comptuer is pick it up and trying to boot to it, wiht NO compleate OS on it.

Do that trick i explained in your PM, (pulg in the raptor after you boot you dads OS)

Im almost postive that you dads comptuer it trying to boot to the raptor. Most BIOSs when you install a new drive will auto change the primary boot to the new disk, expecially if the disk is a new SATA, SATA>PATA you know...
 
well thats the point, i want to boot to the raptor. I finally got into windows setup and did the format and install to new partition, after the reset the comp hangs.
 
ok unhooked the maxtor HD, got into windows, everything was fine. Finally, I install my drivers for my x800xl (omega's drivers) and computer hangs. What the eff?
 
Sounds like a major hardware incompatibility, ram/motherboard incompatibility maybe? Check the book/website to see if it is compatible.

very possibly. Here's my exact comp setup as is right now.
San Diego 3700+ @ stock speeds.
DFI LANPARTY NF4 ULTRA
2x512 Corsair XMS 3200C2PTv2.2 ram(4.2 was having issues)
X800XL SAPPHIRE Card
AUDIGY2 Platinum
AverMedia Stereo TV card
WD 36gb Raptor + Maxtor 80gb Diamond Plus 9 (unhooked right now)
Teac 540 CDRW
Pioneer 16x DVD-ROM
Enermax 535w PSU Whisper Quiet
Watercooled GPU and CPU.
I think thats it.
Onboard sound disabled, having issues with onboard ethernet, but its working right now.
 
What kind of issues with the ethernet?

Bad ethernets ussually indicate a faulty motherboard that should be sent back asap. At least to my experience.

gigabit connection not working, other connection is. I still think its the video card as originally it was the video card that was a refurb, still has lines across the mobo startup screen, and the windows logo screen.
 
k well resolve one issue at a time, starting from the easy and known issues to the harder and lesser known issues. Vid card first of course :)

ok might be IRQ conflict...unfortunately windows isnt letting me manually adjust the IRQ's, what do I do? I set the BIOS to manual and reserved IRQ 12 which was being shared by the Sound and Video card.

Edit: gonna try going through administrator in safe mode and change it manually.
