CMOS Checksum error?

Hello all,
I want to start off by saying that I am a major newbie to building, so please bear with me if I don't get things that seem obvious, as this is my first build attempt. My sig contains the vitals of my setup, any more info required, please ask, as I said, i'm a newbie, so I'm not sure if I am providing enough.

Okay, to the Problem/Question:
After putting everything together, it boots, and I see the "LanParty" startup screen, and then it tells me I have a "CMOS checksum error-default settings loaded". Gives me the option to go into settings, or continue. If i make any changes to the setup (CMOS/BIOS stuff) and try to save and exit, it will just go into a sort of "limbo" and black screen, never doing anything. If I continue, it will load Windows XP, which I did manage to install. When it does start Windows, it seems to work normally, however if I have to restart, it will do one of two things. The first, is go into the limbo where it just gets a black screen and does nothing, the second is that it starts up, gets to the "Welcome" screen of Windows, sometimes all the way into Windows, and then just restarts again, showing the mobo "LanParty" startup screen, going back into windows...etc. in an endless loop. The only way I can get it to restart again is if i clear the CMOS.

I've tried taking the CMOS battery out, and letting it sit, then putting back in, to no avail, and also tried reflashing the BIOS with with NF4LD310.exe 2005/03/10 date code, from DFI's support site.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it, thanks for the time, and sorry it's kind of a lenghty post.

To the matter of seeing your sig, click on your user cp at the top left of your screen. Once there choose edit options, scroll down and tick show signatures , then save changes.

Try a new cmos battery.
If its not saving your cmos setting then the cmos barrery is probably on the way out.

I was thinking that earlier on, however it seems I had better luck when only using 1 stick of RAM, but it still failed to restart next time, so it may have been coincidence. Also the checksum error only seems to come up after I've cleared the CMOS, so the battery may be saving it alright, and it just comes up after I clear it. Clearing it seems to be the only way to get it to restart however, so I dont know. Thought I'd try to clarify a little. Currently I'm running Memtests on the RAM. The first stick got 3 passes and 0 errors in a little over an hour, and the second has been running for 54 minutes, 2 passes, 0 errors, 40% done w/ this set of tests, so it looks like RAM may be okay.
 
Hey all,

After setting my CPU voltage and RAM voltage differently, I seem to have solved the problem. CPU voltage controler was set at 1.425V and RAM was set at 3.0V. Since the change I have had several sucessful reboots, however I had one unexpected restart, so I'm still messing with it some, but it seems I have the situation resolved. Thanks for the help/suggestions!
 
Now I'm led to believe that the Nvidia IDE drivers that came w/ the mobo are having a conflict with my hardware, apparently its a known issue, so the voltage thing may not have had anythign to do with it, I'll keep you updated in case anyone thinks of anything, or someone else is having a similar problem.

set your ram to 2.75v and your cpu voltage to 1.5125 and you should smooth right out. Oh and replace your cmos battery it is no good
